Extremity in shapes and pushing of forms is what Nicholas Kirkwood is known for and certainly, I can’t imagine a mass of girls teetering around the streets in these vertigo-inducing shoe/wedges, though I look forward to seeing put into a hyper-surreal context on the pages of glosses. The elegant shoe wickedly propped up on a beautifully shaped (the curve at the heel, the tapering at the back….ah…)wedge of black mirror tiles really fits the mood of SS08, the idea of elegance that has gone a bit astray.
However, for us mere mortals who don’t have the super feet to handle that, for SS08, Kirkwood has stripped away the hidden platform shoe which has been so ‘on-trend’ (to use one of Mrs Fashion’s pet peeve phrases…) of the past few seasons and exposed the platform with an angular slant.
Whilst in black, the shape is more powerfully felt, the grey, mauve, white and even hot pink lessens the extreme and tones down the agressiveness.
So in short, next mission would be to procure them. Easier said than done though…

the next mission would be to learn to walk on them – easier said than done though 😉 but they are serioulsy cool…
Best,
Cate
wow amazing!
Where can I get them, my birthday´s coing up soon. =)
They are amazing. The black one’s of course, the colour seems to just take away from the coolness.
oo those DO look divine, but im not well-heeled so to speak. I can only perform in platforms, otherwise i’ll be two-stepping my way around town!
My goodness, I am so totally enamoured of these… I’ll take them in black (both styles), lilac and fuschia please!!! These would seriously be a very worthy investment piece, though surely out of my price range! Still, the stuff dreams are made of to be sure!
they are simply divine!!!!!!!
the hot pink. tdf. i just don’t know why they aren’t already on my feet.
🙁
I LOVE the light blue/grey ones and the original black ones with the huge platform. I rekon I could take on the challenge of walking in them if anyone fancies donating a pair?!
