Fencing as an inspiration? Having been scarred permanently by that horrific Madonna James Bond theme video, I didn’t give fencing too much thought. But then I sneaked a peek at Gilles Rosier’s AW07-8 collection and he has taken the haughty elegance of the sport and and produced stunning effects. Since he left Kenzo to conentrate on his own collection, I think Rosier has gone from strength to strength and has really carved out a niche in super lux-ready to wear for himself. It’s a bit of a pity we don’t hear more of him. In any case Rosier has got me thinking about that sport that I always wanted to master just because it looked so powerfully chic.

Nooo! There goes my idea! I thought that if I were ever to become a designer, I would do a fencing-inspired collection. Because I used to fence 🙂 Hmm I should get back to exercising again…
this is beautiful!
I love the colour palette of this collection, and that jacket in the first pic is fab.

Here in San Francisco at Barney’s there is a big window display featuring mannequins wearing Lanvin gowns and fencing with each other. The theme repeats inside the store as well. I like it.
i’ve always really loved these photos, especially the third and there were two more with her in black that aren’t up here that are fantaastic.
