I think the big round of CONGRATUALATIONS to Marios Schwab for winning the Swiss Textile Award goes without saying. I could have gunned for any of the designers in the final really but it is true that Marios Schwab SS08 collection demonstrated not only technical finesse and intelligent ideas backing it all up, but above all, covetability. It doesn’t help that I seem to love stalking the current AW07-8 collection in Dover Street Market, running my hands in a perverse way over the dresses and jackets constructed out of pentagons. The SS08 collection was a rave-review grosser all round and quite rightly so. However, I didn’t quite expect to see the collection in this romantic/spooked out light that Mariano Vivanco has cast over them for the latest issue of Dazed & Confused.
I think I’m a little hesitant about gushing over romance for SS08 and adorning my head with fresh flowers and daisy chains but I think the way to go might be dotting the girly romance about haphazardly, within unexpected ensembles. Trust me to be thinking about flowery things when there’s frost out on the grass.
