C’est tr√®s bien…

I know labels aren’t supposed to mean anything and I think we’ve all established that wearing labels for the sake of them is plain daft.  But I do gather that a certain roster of labels can generally only mean good things.  This list for instance can only be summed up as ‘cool’ by most people’s definitions.  Let’s not go into the ‘What is cool’ never-ending convo but a shop selling all of the label below is worth a look in right?

It goes by the name of ‘Tr√®s Bien Shop’ and it’s a case of shop by name and nature.  Indeed….c’est tr√®s bien/g√©nial/sympa/cool… and all the rest of it.  With two stores in Malmo and Helsingborg in Sweden and another one popping up soon in Copenhagen, the aesthetic as you can see from the store is typical Scandi-edgyness.  The approach towards label selection however is more global as you can tell from the label roster above.

Whilst they stock both menswear and womenswear, the focus on streetstyle labels is such that you get a sort of unisex vibe from all the clothes, with nothing being incredibly girly or incredibly gentleman-like.  I’m a fan of incoporating a few pieces from labels aren’t about being ‘on-trend’ or are pressurised by catwalk biggies.  It sort adds a subtle ambiguity to an outfit that I love.  Enough about me though.  This post is really for the 15% of guys that read this blog (I’m making this percentage up… I have absolutely no idea…but it’s a fair guess!).  I’m eager to see more guys wearing prints who don’t in turn get accused for being flamboyant or a bit pansy and Tres Bien Shop excels in this area.  It’s a sad state of affairs when guys start ribbing each other’s outfits simply because ‘Oh my god…. he’s wearing coloured patterns!’.

My ulterior motive though in backing prints/patterned streety menswear is of course borrowing whatever the boyf has bought from TBS.  It makes perfect unisex sense in my head…

  1. Thanks for the menswear post, Bubble. We actually make up 75% of your readers. We are just very quiet.

  2. You would so like Danish high schools.. Basically everyone are wearing this kind of clothes 🙂

  3. Carla is right. Patterns like this (and Wood Wood) is very popular in Copenhagen with the teens and the twenty-something people.
But I’m getting the feeling it’s more because it is such a big trend (Wood Wood raised the prices on some of their hoodies, which were really popular, with like 60-80 pounds. And they are really not that fancy, and the pattern is some simple dots and not really stunning or new).
Plus it gets a little old when you see the same Henrik Vibskov cardi again and again (two of the guys from Arctic Monkeys is wearing it on a cover of the danish music magazine Gaffa).
Wood Wood and Henrik Vibskov are not really that exiting for me anymore. It’s everywhere and it’s been done.
BTW. the Wood Wood store in Copenhagen is uncomfortably small… The one in Berlin is far better…

  4. Oh, I have more. They raised the prices when the hoodies got really popular. In a attempt to make them more exclusive, and because they were tired of all the kids wearing them(where talking 13-year olds and such). They also started selling some special edition stuff the time, when teens are suppused to be in school. It’s pretty snobby..

  5. Ida & Carla, interesting insight into Danish streetstyle. I did see a swarth of ‘yoofs’ wearing said prints/cardis etc when I was in Stockholm. I’m of course not saying these designers are doing extraordinary things…. but I do rather like the fact that there is seasonal consistency…
I still think Tres Bien Shop has a great roster of designers that cater not just to ‘fashionistas’!
