Making like a tree and ‘leaving’

When I was in Paris, I had already began to feel the air growing crisp and the leaves had already turned colours.  It couldn’t have been more like a cliched film setting, if it tried.  That’s absolutely fine by me as that autumnal crispness is one of my favourite time of the years and precisely why Northern European weather suits me fine.  Back to London, and though it’s late coming, the crisp air has settled in nicely, the sun is wintry and yes, the leaves are all shades of autumn.

I’m aware ‘autumn’ isn’t a shade but how else can I put burnt oranges, reds, yellow, vibrant browns with hints of aubergine and forest green all into one word.  Excuse the somewhat ‘Countryfiles’ introduction to this post.  I promise I’m getting to the fash-point.  Whilst all things, extreme, dangerous, black, PVC and studded are well underway for the winter season, my autumnal period will not be rocked by any of this.  I have been making like a fallen leaf and dressing in those shades of autumn and will do so until after Bonfire night.  By the by, I like to construct stages in my autumn/winter wardrobe because I’m greedy and want to fit as many things in as possible and in turn, prolonging it for as long as possible.

Whilst it’s not quite cold enough to be completely wrapped up, cosy ‘nods’ with hats, multiple thin-layers and the ability to wear knee-highs without tights underneath are all part of the autumn shades weather wardrobe that will ALWAYS make an appearance every year (hence why most of the clothing is also ions old).  Sorry if it’s not the ‘edged-up’ stuff I like to dabble with.  This is my comfort wardrobe, to be worn whilst eating sweet potato mash and lamb stews.

  1. Lovely set of outfits, Susie. I suppose that the comfiness factor would probably also figure heavily in any attempt to adopt the shiny shiny patent whatnots into your wardrobe too. The beanie and bobble hat are adorable, though.
PS: we haven’t really seen you with the boater hat and the other hats you modelled for us a long while back..seeing the headgear hear reminds me, do you wear those much?

  2. I can’t pick a fault with any of these outfits! They’re all beautiful. I’m currently making a knit/chiffon dress in aubergine and forest green at the moment. Rather fitting with your post!

  3. Good lord, woman! you’ve got a lot of clothes! 😉
Seriously though, I really love your aesthetic. I’m trying to develop/nurture a look of my own, and it’s cool to see someone who clearly knows what they love and what looks great on them.

  4. oh my goodness!! You look fantastic! <3 wish I had the dexterity with clothes that you have.

  5. i am agreeing with the first two, as they are not as ‘fussy’ as those proceding.

  6. Love the second outfit. Reminds me of Louis Vuitton F/W 07! The beret just polishes it off! 😀

  7. wonderful + brilliant colour coordination!
playing colours makes fall so much more cheerful!
love this site + these outfits!

  8. It’s gorgeous!!
You have such a good eye, and those are my colours so it makes me want to rip them off you and wear them myself.
I love every single outfit especially the cameo top

  9. Drusilla: The boater is alas too small for me now – for some reason, my head has grown in circumference and I need a bit of elastic to hold that hat down….
But yes, floppy hat, red hair net are still in full action…especially for days out and about when a hat makes me feel like I can achieve something that day…
Thanks for all the autumn-loving and thanks for compliments about my style…. it isn’t everyone’s taste and I’m sure a lot of ppl hold back from puking on the blog so it’s nice to hear something well…nice?!
Now lets have some virtual sweet potato mash together…
