Oli, Oli Oy, Oy

I know I know, slap me on the wrists. I really shouldn’t be bigging up another website that DOESN’T deliver to addresses outside the UK seeing as only 11% of you ppl reside in the UK (just call me the scary stats machine…).  Furthermore, when you click over to Oli with it’s awful, dated, pink logo, you must be thinking ‘What the heck is Susie Bubble thinking, directing me to this generically styled, faux-glam, ASOS-esque attrocity?’  If you’re from the UK, you might have caught their slightly embarrassing TV ads set in a cheesy slick bar with cheesy smiley girls in pretty frocks.  At first perusal at the website, you will think this is some sort of Argos Additions/Freemans/ASOS hybrid and certainly price-wise, everything is very sub-¬£50 friendly.  Nothing wrong with wanting a pretty FCUK or Warehouse dress.

But delve a little deeper and to my utter surprise, I find an Oli Fusion collection designed by Ann Sofie Back! And…it ain’t half bad…! And….gasp a bit at the prices… ¬£60 for a dress, ¬£35 for a top, ¬£40 for a skirt…..my only question is how the hell did Oli manage to rope Ann-Sofie Back to pull this one off!

There are definite accurate diffusions from her mainline AW07-8 collection with the belts and puffa jackets but I love the overlapping jersey pieces which for me are very ASB.  You might wince a little at the way the model has been shot in these photos but combined with the flat-garment pictures, I think it will take little persuastion to make a wee purchase.   

After a little bit more delving in and I find a designer that I haven’t heard of before; Thomas Vicary has also done a wonderfully sharp Oli fusion collection.  Red and black is not something I’m usually into but with the graphic cuts and detailing, it really works here.  The dress with the ruched neckline and strap is quite a stunner….

Note to those looking to buy, it seems stock delivery hasn’t happened yet but I’ll give Oli props for having a very nifty stock checker giving you an exact indication of when an item of stock will arrive.

Perhaps you may find other gems hidden within Oli but for now, I’ll stick to Oli’s more random/interesting collaborations.

  2. Hahaha- the scary stats machine, huh?? I’d rather call you the lovely and crazy cool stats machine personally…
    sites like these does make me wish I live in the UK sometimes, if I dont think about the dreary weather too much!

  3. Omg, I love the strapless dress with the buckle in the middle! There’s so many ways you can wear it! If only it was available here in Aussie-land… *sighs*

  6. aouch, love ann-sofie.. wouldn’t hate to have all of the grey pieces, especially the ones at the seventh picture.
