Red Plastic? Whatever next…

So my curiosity with a red patent trench was piqued a few weeks ago.  But something even more appealing in a bizare way has been thrusted upon me.  From Grazia magazine of all places.  This Gaetano Navarra clear red PVC trench with giant gems is fantastico.  Plastico fantastico to be precise.  Traffic stopping red that is actually tempered by the fact that it’s transparent.  Adorned with chunky gems (not so keen on teensy tiny rhinestones but big ma-hussive giant gems….yes please!), the trench is unapologetically shiny and begs for someone to go ‘Hmm…can I touch those gem stones?’ (that sounded less weird in my head by the by…).

I think all that sagely advice about getting a ‘statement piece of the season’ I’ve been reading and scoffing at in fashion magazines is finally being thrown back in my face.  At ¬£614, the trench would be QUITE the statement – I mean ‘QUITE’ in more ways than one.  I shall be hunting it down high and low even though there’s only two stockists of Gaetano Navarra in London.  Seeing it in person could push me either way.

  1. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I have a thing for those huge gem stones as well… They’re big enough not to be seen as tacky!
I believe I am going to be making myself a clear plastic raincoat soon. It keeps preying on my mind, so I know that I’m going to have to get it done!

  2. Hi Susie its Dave, I’m here for my daily dose of Style Bubble!
I believe you’ve discovered one of the must-haves for the season, or the year for that matter.
I can already see this coat being copied in candy colors and on the shelves of many fashion apparel retailers in a couple of years, it definitely has potential.
Maybe I should beat everyone to the punch and order a roll or red transparent pvc from New York or New Jersey and start stitching.
If only I could freeze time…
As for Gaetano Navarra’s haute edition,I absolutely love it!

i really really really really want to go too bad im in the states…>.<

  4. Pass… I wouldn’t wear it if it were free. It looks cheap, and can you imagine the sound it might make when you move around? I’d love to see that color on a different material, though – perhaps red velvet or even red leather.

  5. I would think one would get rather steamy wearing that…maybe that’s why it looks like the model has nothing on underneath.

  6. Mango now have a red plastic shiny coat, a bit like a square anorak, in stock!
