Struggling to Bubble

I have to be brutally honest here.  Even in my hazy state, my style-alert was still switched and yes I did comb the streets pretty thoroughly, but alas to no avail.  I’m afraid that it was a bit of a dead loss when it came to hunting for stylish people.  I sure hope it isn’t something to do with the fact that there’s an over abundance of H&M stores in Amsterdam (seriously – 5 on two streets leading onto each other?).  I most probably was hanging around the wrong places as I know for a fact that there are many fantastically dressed Amsterdam-ers or maybe I just wasn’t not as alert as I thought I was (could well be a possibility considering all the *ahem* ‘coffeeshop’ activity).  But I did find this girl who works in one of the Invito shoe stores.  It is quite literally sugar (pink cutesy dress) and spice (leopard print leggings and funky ankle boots) summed up in an outfit.

  1. I LOVE Amersterdam–I honestly want to buy property there when I can afford it–but one thing that I did notice last time I was there is that it’s more of a place to shop for amazing chocoalte and, um, other substances, than clothes. H&M definitely takes the cake there.

  2. Yes maybe it is true that there aren’t many good dressed people in Holland. I think it is hard to find too! But have you been to the nine streets area (9 little streets with canals in between) that is where you can find some nice stores (and good looking people!) There are a lot vintage shops (expensive but okay) and little stores with nice brands. No H&M there! haha

  3. Unfortunately, us Dutchies are not the most stylish in the world, I definately admit that. And those streets you visited are a perfect example of the commonness you can encounter, sight, but the 9 streets are more fashionable indeed, as Leonie stated…

  4. She’s got me re-thinking pink. It’s a color I tend to stay away from but my skin tone is similar to hers and she’s really working it. Great pic!

  5. Absolutely love the outfit! Love the matching belt and stockings!
This outfit definitely would’ve made it onto my Street Chic posts had it happened in Australia!

  6. ICK. I like the dress and legging combo. But it needs better overall styling. No belt, thinner shoes.

  7. It is true, hard to find the real fashionista’s but they are there and actually like it to hide underneath the commercialized crowd. The nine streets are certainly a place to shop besides that the markets are great and much cheaper. Try the Noordermarkt on monday morning, really early, around 8.30 to get the best things, and if you want to meet the people go to Club 11, a temporarly club which combines art and electronica. its hard to find, but they intend it that way. I hope you’ll find your next visit better!
