A yes to the clothes and a yes to queuing

So before I was considering whether to do the crazy camping thing outside H&M come 9th November.  Yes, the launch of the Viktor & Rolf for H&M collection is looming and most of roughly what’s in the collection has been leaked out in various accounts.  However, two official H&M press images have been released, thanks to nitrolicious for the update.  Scans from Swedish Elle have also trickled in.  I can tentatively answer yay to my original question and prepare my camping kit.

It seems the range is whole lot bigger than both the Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney collections put together as there are 35 pieces which includes footwear as indicated by these two press pictures.  With shoes, dress and blazer all priced at 79.90 euros, it isn’t cheap as chips but still quite reasonable.

The running motif seems to be heart shapes which sounds overly cutesie and a bit gimmicky but as executed on the heart rosette on the sweater and on the sheer neckline of the black dress, V&R have used the heart well (thank god!).  The trench is also bound to be a complete sell-out but I thought they could have done something a bit more interesting with it – like overly puffed shoulders or a more exaggerated shape.  I’m now on V&R H&M eagle watch since all the glossies are sure to cover this collection like crazy until a sufficient level of hype has built up.  The time I have planned to arrive is around 6 in the morning but I fear that by the time November comes around, that time will have to be go further and further back into the wee hours of the night as the press machine does it’s thing.  Any other crazed fashion fanatic Londoners – please feel free to join me!

  1. i was just admiring the dress and the trench as well. i really love the heart dress. though november is a horrible time to release it!. while i would wear the trench (i’ve been searching for one for a while), it’s not that different from any other trench.
does the collection get released in new york at the same time?

  2. That’s me buying only the stuff without the hearts on it, then – damn! but whimsical just doesn’t work with my dress sense. Oh well. I’m still hoping there won’t be mad queueing as V&R are less famous than Stella or Karl, but we shall see… Fingers crossed!

  3. just get it on ebay after. thats what i did with the stella stuff. its worth like 10-15 bucks more to not have to deal with H&M customers and staff. plus you get the size and item you wanted the most.

  4. I love some of these pieces, and agreed about the heart theme. they could have done it in a tacky way, yet they kept it somewhat subtle. do you happen to know when the line is supposed to get realeased? or any info on it?

  5. Susie, do you know if it’s being launched in ny? I had a mini freak out when I saw this entry you wrote! Please do keep us posted on anymore press releases concerning the V&R collaboration!

  6. Im sad that I live in Singapore and wont be able to see the collection. I love the first look (grey sweater and pants). Boo-hoo.

  7. Well, I’ll be queueing! Since I live in the Netherlands, it’ll probably be busier than with Karl and Stella, because V&R are Dutch designers and rather well known here.
I personally always love the queueing, because so far it has always been great fun to talk to other queueing fashionlovers, compare ideas and inspirations.
I’m usually not very heartsy-minded, but love the grey sweater and trench.
It’ll hit the stores on November 9, by the way. Apparantly the second thursday in november is becoming a tradition with the H&M collaboration collections…

  8. i’ll be there bright and early, college permitting! i was hoping this one was going to slip under most people’s radars but i’ve already seen it in grazia etc, booo!

  9. I love the dress, the trench and a blouse which I saw on another webside!

  10. and these are the colors: emerald, raspberry, black, nude and grey (H&M’s news mail). thank you for an interesting blog!

  11. i’m so annoyed i wont be able to join u – my terms may only b 8 weeks long at uni but residency rules mean i cant leave during term or i dont get my degree – damn cambridge’s academic standards! i want those trousers and the dress! I quite like the trench but i agree about the – for the hype – lack of innovation, even if it is for the high street – this is th label who used (get dowm and worship) tilda swinton on the catwalk – i want fun and insane twists – not a little dangly heart on an otherwise plain tan trench! BUT, will probs b vainly searchin on ebay lol – i love it but always need to try stuff on, thats my problem! ah well… mayb next time a launch myt b in my holidays! fingers crossed!

  12. I’ll be there, bright and early. I hope that there is another London location other than Oxford Circus…it is going to be chaotic there :/
