I went through a mini-phase of collecting Be@rbrick toys – a Japanese series of plastic bears that sort of resemble lego men. I wasn’t as obsessed as some of my friends from Hong Kong (where collecting limited edition toys is taken to unimaginable heights of looniness) but I kind of did like them sitting on my shelf in a cute kind of way. So when I saw this Be@rbrick that Karl Lagerfeld had designed – aptly called Coco Bear, I really had to laugh. They are currently camping out in the Avenue Montaigne Chanel store. What would Mademoiselle Coco have said about this slightly disturbing Chanel plastic bear army!
Naturally, they’ve made their way over to Hong Kong’s Chanel store as well. I can already picture the toy junkies crowding around the shop window.

Hahaa, I went through the same phase but those really are quite odd lol
Apparently, these will only be shipped to Chanel boutiques where they will be on display only. They won’t be for sale, but the owner (or whoever) at each shop is allowed to give them away to whoever they please. It doesn’t have to be a regular client or etc. Any Chanel Be@rbricks that remain will be destroyed. Time to make some friends at Chanel!
Over the weekend, I saw these displays in at least two different Chanel boutiques in the city I’m currently living in. The displays looked very similar to the ones in the pictures posted here. I guess the concept is all pretty much the same no matter which city these things are shipped to. I like them, tho!
Awwww, they’re really adorable. I used to collect toys like that, as well. I bet your collection is super cute. :]
I personally find them pretty ugly..
I adore the toys James Jarvis created for Silas and these are in a similar vein. Cute.
hahaha, check out http://www.misshapes.com they have a bunch of pictures with these dolls in the latest set of photos!
hahahahahaha!! ooh that picture’s great
so i live in one of the cities in the US where there is a “KidRobot’ which gets direct imports of japanese toys and exclusive designed kubricks and stuff of that sort(i’m a big fan of the Gloomy bear…if your THAT much of a geek) and that picture that you took is just too damn funny. go down to haight street and put those creepy bears in a window and see what happens….hahahahahahaha…
🙂
LAWLZ these are hilar. kaiser karl really went whack this time. what’s the age group he’s going for? toddlers? i cant see some 40 year old woman coming out of chanel with a doll with a bulbous head and a chanel suit on. it just seems all wrong.
