Tenenbaum on Paper

I’m a sucker for editorials inspired by films especially when the film of reference is immediately recognisable.  I knew Margot Tenenbaum from Wes Anderson’s 2001 film, The Royal Tenenbaums was somewhat a film fashion icon with that dark, shrewd eyeliner, neat side parted blonde bob, vintage fur coats and tennis dresses.  However, this is the first fashion shoot I have seen directly inspired by Margot.   I think this editorial has just re-ignited my secret desire to swathe around in a vintage fur coat (PETA people, I’m sorry but vintage fur is ok right….?) over super casual polo shirts and A-line skirts.  From Z!nk magazine, I think they cast the right model but the Richie Tenenbaum of this shoot is not half as cute as Luke Wilson.

  1. Very funny you posted this, because just yesterday i read about how american designer Jose Ramon Reyes’ latest line was inspired by Margot. I actually wrote about it in my blog…this fashion shoot is great, but you’re right, Luke Wilson is much cuter

  2. I love Margot , I love the idea and the concept but I can’t stand that model she’s scowling ! Margot was apparently based on Francoise Sagan I’ve been reading a lot of her work lately. x

  3. I was reading Z!nk in a bookshop yesterday and loved the hell out of that editorial. I may even have to go back and buy it!
