Whether it’s the rising prices of high street stores in London or the fact that I have become a price cynic (as in, thinking that nothing comes cheap these days in this money-sucking world), I’m always surprised when I find a ‘new’ label clothing line that’s reasonably priced – I mean VERY reasonably priced. When Motel Clothing opened about half a year ago in Covent Garden in London, I always expected prices to be higher than they were, given the location of the shop and the way it was laid out. So it was a pleasant suprise to lift up tags and get that ‘Cheap Alert’ giddiness. My sister is a massive fan of their clothing as it does have leanings towards punk/rock chick style (though I haven’t pictured those items here) with a thrift shop feel. The label was born out of a British couple’s travels along the West Coast of USA, visiting thrift stores and thus recreating the classic garments they saw with a modern approach. Looking at the range, I’m not sure how much they have stuck to this initial concept but it is all incredible wearable yet manages to distinguish itself from trend-led high street store items at VERY reasonable prices (I think I have said the word reasonable more than twice….. so you get the idea – anything ranging from £8 to £40!). Urban Industry is the official stockist and they offer international shipping without the extortionate cost.

I can definitely recognize a lot this from where I lived (and live) on the West Coast.
darn…on my next trip to london, i guess this is where i’ll shop.
I used to buy Motel clothes when I lived in NZ. It’s a great label and it’s popping up in a lot of places. You can buy it downstairs in Topshop and in the Laden showroom on Bricklane (also in my favourite litte shop in Stoke Newinton, Hub). It’s really good value for money.
Yes I discovered them just a short while ago
They are very good and washes well
Only limited selection in Topshop

I discovered Motel clothing in Nottingham and I absolutely fell in love with the range; great style, prints and reasonable prices! What more could a girl want !
Happy Shopping!
Too many people to wear someone else’s cast off clothes would be distasteful, and many may say “never in a million years”. BUT times are a changing, most folk are on a tight budget and really decent, quality clothes cost the earth, so buying clothes second hand makes real economic sense.
Sure there are charity and thrift shops around most street corner but the quantity and quality of goods on offer is often limited and time consuming.

i live in cheltenham, and always relied on DNA (motel) to find something original, well designed and reasonably priced. now it’s closed down i’m screwed, motel always helped me look just that little bit different to everyone else.
