Bewitched by the Outlet

Whilst I’m on the subject of the online store Luisaviaroma, I think I better put a stamp of warning on the section called Outlet.  This is sale stock with REALLY reduced prices, that are non-returnable and are probably from a few seasons back.  Like Yoox, but a lot smaller.  It is online store sections like these that really test your mental strength.  You know the score – you’re swayed by the bolded red prices and the massive reductions, you’re elated because they have this reduced reduced item in your size, you think you may never encounter such a bargain and boom, there you are handing over your credit card details.  In hindsight, you realise you’re buying something that you wouldn’t want at full price and is just perching on the ugly/ridiculous side but with it’s low low price, they somehow crossed over into pretty/edgy in your head.

I’m grappling with this problem at the moment with these Pierre Hardy Shoes, reduced from EUR455 to EUR91 (see how I purposely wrote in that price difference to justify the purchase to myself!) that are available in my size 38.  Under no circumstance would I buy them at EUR455 but suddenly at EUR91 which is like GBP60, I’m like ‘Way-hey! Fashion score!’.  You guys are probably thinking ugly weird square toe right?  Not me, I’m thinking cool and unique – why?  Because they’re EUR91 goddamnit!

Again with this Undercover dress, reduced from EUR760 to EUR152.  I’m quite a fan of Undercover and this is one of their more wearable pieces.  To some it may be over embellished and fussy.  Not for me!  It’s chic grey/silver floatiness at EUR152.

Have i been slayed by the Outlet?  Or quite possibly….am I on the ball with these picks?

  1. darn it susie, shhh! i’m secretly glad those pieces never get sold so that some day when i make lots of money, i can finally afford them. oh dear. i love the yohji coats and the helmut lang dress. in reality, it is better that things get sold, i know.

  2. Yes to the shoes, which are, as you said, very unique and cool. And could totally make an outfit pop.
The dress, on the other, hand looks really ill-fitting (even on the tall, leggy model).

  3. yes to the dress- beautiful and ethereal
no to the shoes- interesting in a kind of modernist way but when you get a foot inside them…not the same
    xx

  4. Definite “yay” to the dress.
    Total “nay” to the shoes.
    xoxo!

  5. That dress is amazing I am positively green with envy!!!! The shoes I like but they wouldn’t be my thing, possibly because I have v.wide feet and they would hang unatractively over the side!!! Now you visualise freakish flat feet – this is not the case…..
I need to visit that outlet…
