The fantastic thing about blogging is that nowadays, people email me with tons of ideas and recommendations of their labels, designs, products etc. I have to admit, not all of it is my cup of tea but I appreciate it all the same. However, one day, Karine Wirton, the designer behind Lucie Plane, a small French indie label (can any French people tell me how does she fare on the indie scale? My knowledge of independent French labels is pretty scant) emailed me pictures of her collection and I immediately loved it! From her blog and her accompanying text in her spring summer catalogue, it is clear that there lies great thought behind her designs. They’re highly wearable with a slight young-ish edge and there’s just something very pleasing to the eye about them. Karine also incorporates her illustration background (she just about freelances in all things fashion-related!) with her clothes successfully too. Alors, merci beaucoup Karine for introducing me to your gem of a label.
Her latest collection – there’s a Sofia Coppola-esque simplicity about these dresses which I LOVE!
Some looks from her Spring/Summer 2006 collection – I especially love the sheeny texture of the cream and green dress.

nice and elegant. my only comment, i see alot of french designers who do great work but why dont they learn to sell online. yanks and brits are so much better at that. its no point lusting if we cant get our hands on it!
