Mon Dieu! C'est Marie Antoinette!

By now, I think we have established how excited I am about the upcoming Marie Antoinette movie by Sophia Coppola not only because it looks set to be just about the raciest and edgiest period drama ever but also I spent a damn good chunk of my university life writing about the French Revolution so it’s about time to dust off the cobwebs off my historian’s mind (if I ever had one….). 

However, as excited as I am, would I want to BE Marie Antoinette?  The theme of crazy accessories designers Yazbukey’s A/W05 collection was literally the reine herself.

Step 1) Don a wig with a tricolor corsage to show the people you’re all for a Republic – away with the fleur de lis!  Then put on a pair of wedding cake knickers because sadly Louis is not giving you the slightest bit of attention so that ought to wake him up a bit!

Step 2) Of course your hands must be encased in the finest gloves because you wouldn’t want to dirty your pretty fingers with cake and such.  Equally, your feet must don these painted wedges – all the better to heighten your diminuitive figure. 

Step 3) Finally, your pooch papillon, Mops must wear a sweet velvet coat with the mandatory ruffles and to pray for peace in your country, you can wear a dove necklace (not that that’s gonna save you….).
