Feeding the Power

Something happened. I have somehow crossed into the category of people who can handle the high platform shoes with aplomb. No more intrepid stumbling around. No more looking like an awkward child wearing mother’s shoes. No more carrying flats around in my bag. Yes, the higher, the bigger, the chunkier the better. Wearing my Sergio Rossi humongous wedges, I skipped (around Bloomsbury Square), hopped (doing an impression of my friend who arrived at my flat mate having lost one shoe) and ran (for the bus) all day and night without so much as a wince of pain. Is it like when you suddenly discovering you can’t wear a ‘training bra’ anymore? As it just suddenly happened that my feet are now void of feeling the pain from super high, super chunky footwear. So seeing as I’m never going to conquer the spindly stiletto, I shall now have to invest in the ultimate homage to the high high platform to really flaunt my new found ability. Seeing these alluring shots of Terry de Havilland shoes, now sold in girly girly boutique Sera in a designated Venus Palace area, they get a big googly-eyed yes from me.  Havilland has said he designed shoes whilst on acid, dope and mescalin and I can’t comment on his present substance intake but there is definitely something of the wacky with his shoes that is perfect for doing all my skipping, hopping and running.  After all, the feet no longer hurt!

  1. I have platforms too and i can swear this is the best for queeping feminity without feeling any pain, the maximum high and all the advantages!
platforms rocks!(sorry for my bad english ;-p

  2. Also, the feeling that you could easily kick in the face of any w***ker who tries to pinch your bum, is unparalleled 🙂 Platforms=power.

  3. thats great! i just make the same experience. i have never believed i could go with high platforms. but then there where these beautiful brown ankle boots and my love beguns. its just great to walk with high platforms. i always thought, i would be a women, who can never go with it. but no i can! ok, my feets still hurts and running is just embarassing. but i will get that, give me some weeks. but i’m sad that i just cant wear them on my work, thats not possibil.
    i love your blog 🙂

  4. i just wanted to let you know that your blog is the best fastion blog ever. I really enjoy reading it EVERYDAY! Thanks again!

  5. they don’t hurt for me, but my ankles tend to twist, so i still have to avoid rapid movement when i wear them. 🙁

  6. hurray for platform shoes! i love my chloesque wooden platform shoes that i feel tall and stand proud whenever i walk in them. i’ve been wearing flats too much lately though i must wear my platforms again.

  7. Haha, I discovered the same skill not long ago as well. I can run across the street in five seconds, unlike stilettos. Plateforms are also very good to add lots of height and still be albe to do window shopping for 5 hours.

  8. they get a big yes from me too. and great photos!
i remember the day i could finally walk in heels and platforms. i realized that if i stomped around completely confidantly and defiantly i wouldn’t fall. and it worked. stomp stomp.

  9. Platforms in general aren’t as painful as stilettos as they have the platform to absorb the shock, also there is a BIG difference when it comes to comfort between high street and high end, I can go around all day in my towering balenciaga’s but could not last in Topshop shoes!
For comfort it’s worth investing a little extra, also the trend is shifting from flats to SKY HIGH! And women should embrace it. 😉

  10. Sorry if you’ve missed me!! (haha, yeah right) I just want you to know i have still been reading and you are still the bestest bubbloe out there. It’s a bit like skiing in that..you’re crap, then you’re good. there’s no inbetweeniness. (new word, so what?)
