What’s one of the best things about Style Bubble? People like Gloria of <3 Life <3 Style who has my back and sent me this ‘Cage Clothing Alert!’ as I’m now calling them (thank you to the people who highlighted the Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection…. I did like parts of it but others not so much…. and you know me….i don’t post negative designer rants…. so I’ll let it slide…). Going via Gloria, it led me to this Etsy find who are doing thicker, shorter cage skirts for not too much money. Chunkier bands too. On further inspection, the label that this skirt hails from is quite intriguing. Freyagushi is i suppose fetish/goth/lolita/, all of those obvious tags that no doubt they will find offensive as they classify their clothes as ‘ultra feminine creations with a twist’ and ‘medical experimental garments’….. can’t really explain without you browsing the site so I’d recommend a quick gander and as some of the images are frankly a little disturbing I’ve chosen not to post them here…
I’ll admit all of it isn’t to my taste but I’m forever fascinated with rooting out things in so-called ‘specialist’ shops be it Cyber Punk, dancewear shops, costume, sex, goth etc. Don’t want to sound repetitive but it’s about taking things out of context as always… the custom-made flower collar will be on its way to me, minus the gaffer taped boobs though….
By the by I promise I will stop with the whole cage thing as I’m sure it’s grating some people…

I was fascinated by the Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection, and want to make something similar soon 🙂
it’s not grafting me! i love the cage things… esp, the vivienne westwood bustles she did a while back. these here are way more wearable though.
good good – this one is even better – I mean, this now really looks like you were a bird in a cage but somehow outgrew your prison. Also, the shape is sort of this trendy tulip-y shape, which makes it all the more desirable. Well, you know, I know few people who could pull it off, but in reference to the tapered boobs and the lingerie outside instead of inside you could taper your boobs nonetheless – over a shirt, though. You get the drift?
Oooh la la they look interesting and quirky. V.cool
oooh i love Freyagushi!
A number of Gothic Lolita gals have been rocking the cage skirt (because it’s like an old-time cage crinoline!) Manamu wears one in the Absolut Metropolis ads – check it out on my site: http://www.carmenyuen.com/blog/post/index/110/ABSOLUT-METROPOLIS-AD-CAMPAIGN-FEATURING-GOTHIC-MODEL-MANAMU

Let the cage live on! And fetish sites too!
I like it but yours was alot better with the floral print!
Acne did start the cage thing in the first place… will be forever thankful to Jonny Johansson and his team for that!
nah, feel free to continue your cage rantings. i can’t get enough of the cage skirts.
I love the cage! Continue if it makes you happy!
viva la cage!
Weirdly there is a shot of a Vivienne Westwood cage crinoline style skirt in this week’s Grazia (a strange place to find a cage but good nonetheless).
ooh freyagushi stuff can be really good, she has a very nice polka dot chiffon sheer blouse too 😉
I used to be very much in to the cyber goth scene, but as you say its about taking it out of context as you get older and making your own style from a big mash-up of influences.
I’m loving reading your blog btw, its nice to see a fellow mid-twenty year old not looking like a scene queen or wag wannabe these days
Hi,i am pinkindus the designer and owner of freyagushi..uhm i have to thanks you for your interest in my work.I want also to add even though people classify me into lolita, cyber ect i don’t think my work fits in any of these.I know these scenes very well..and my work is a crossover between different influences from victorian fashion to industrial and military uniforms.I also don’t pretend to have invented anything.I always loved cages and crinoline. My point as to sew something different, affordable too..and not reproduce anything like lolita fashion often does.
As for ‘offensive’ pictures..i do play with the dark sid of humaninity..clothing are a way of expression for me and not just fashion. This said all can be worn in an individual way ,which is all my point!
xx

Anyone tried planetofrock’s guitar backing tracks or 50blues blues backing tracks?
I’ve heard great reviews about these backing tracks and looking to purchase them.
Thanks
