I couldn't make it to Stockholm for the first part of 'Fashion Week by Berns' (the new name for Stockholm Fashion Week) thank the lord for their well organised website, providing people with HIGH-RES IMAGES all nicely zipped up and ready to go (hint hint hint to other cities…). I was particularly intrigued by the Beckmans 2nd year knitwear show because a) I'm not overly familiar with the work in general of this art school in Stockholm and b) the only reason I know the name Beckmans is down to Sandra Backlund (who I did a loooong-ass interview with for Dazed Digital), a graduate of the school. The fact that the focus of the show was knitwear might inadvertedly tag all the students with a possible 'next Sandra Backlund' label but then again, that's no bad thing. Non-related note: SOMEBODY give Sandra a show please next season!
The stand-outs…
Azade Habibnia – The simplicity of op-art knits never fail to please…
Carina Sahlin – Not far off from a long unknotted sausage but it looks lovely in this pale, pale blue…
Disa Treutiger – What do Martin Margiela-esque shoulders need? Delicate and soft cobweb knitting dusted over them?
Emilie Steele – I'm not seeing knitwear per se but the print is part-hilarious, part-amazing…
I did some further delving into Beckmans and found that all the students had uploaded part of their portfolios onto the site which brought up some even more intriguing images…
Carina Sahlin
Fanny Ollas
Jonna Sjogren
Klara Sjons Nilsson
Maria Melinder
Oh man thank you so much for these, Treutiger blows my mind!
Gee whiz! These are mind-blowing, especially the ‘armoire’ top!
a great collection of images as usual, susie. can’t wait to see you tackle these looks.
Cool looks, I love the different structures
first pic: OOOH…

There’s so much good stuff on this post, I don’t know what to look at first!
Thanks for sharing.

The girl in the 3th pic looks like a Matryoshka doll.
That print on the Jonna Sjogren dress is simply breathtaking, so simple yet so perfect.
my my such extremities!
Must. have. spike. shoulder.
Wow.
I’m pretty sure I also need a pixelated bag now too. Great

Beckmans is definitely the best fashion school in Stockholm (at least in my opinion). Plus, they always throw wild wild parties. I think I’m most impressed by the selection you picked from the portfolios on their website. Especially that chest of drawers built onto the front of a dress.
xxx,
Tiffany
these are all so amazing.
each outfit requires so much concentration!
Wow! These shapes are so interesting and innovative. Very bold x
The dress with the drawers is too OTT to me. But that pixelated bag… tying into your ‘idea stealing’ post, I wonder if someone will pick up this idea and produce it (and offer it for sale somewhere in Belgium… please? 🙂 )
i could so see you DIY and wear that second dress, that collar.. great.
I love Swedish fashion and style so much, and I agree it’s really nice how they put up high res pics and videos of the shows up for everyone to see.
There was an interesting article in the (London) Times recently about how designers have found they can draw huge audiences of millions by presenting collections online, when traditionally they’ve instead spent a huge amount of money on big runway shows, especially designed to exclude the public..

Ah the top look looks as though it has been used in an editorial from new UK VOGUE that I spied on TFS. Not sure though!
