You would think that snow falling in London is a beautiful thing and the oh-so-pretty snow snaps have been uploading at a mental pace on Flickr as illustrated above.  Except with the excessive amount of light pollution in the city, once night falls, the light bouncing off the white snow reflects back up and literally you get a neon orange sky… these pictures look colour corrected in Photoshop, but that is really what I got on my camera last night…

So I woke up with neon orange on my mind and decided that to combat the snow, what I really needed were some orange tights and plenty of bright pink as opposed to actual garments that kept me warm.  I took on accusing glares and stares today from people on the street as supposedly we're all meant to be bundled up in black and navy when it snows.  The arse-falling incident was worth it I feel…

  1. That’s almost what L.A night is like, except it looks more like dawn. Its almost never completely dark.
During christmas I got snowed in and it was terrible outfit wise. I had to wear basically the same thing everyday for two weeks. My favorite cowboy boots are basically deaders from all the dampness and freezing and unfreezing and freezing again. Take care of your booties (your shoes I mean, take care of your booty too, dont fall on it)

  2. A colourful outfit is the perfect antidote to the bleak snow…I was hoping for some interestingly dressed snowmen out there but alas, I think they are behind in the fashion world!

  3. Oh I wish more people would dress in bright colours in the snow. I felt super bright when I was walking to the bus this morning and I was only wearing my red beret and green scarf!
    You look great!

  4. Brilliant colour blocking. Today London transport FAIL. Still can do without a day of school…

  5. Well I, for one, commend you! Wearing brights is the best way to combat winter gloom, black and navy be damned. Plus pink and orange is such a fantastic combination.

  6. I love the photo of the snow scultputrey thing that reflects the landscape. I wore black and navy today BUT with crazy high boots… which didn’t get much approval hah. I like that you went for such bright colours, I think that is what is needed when it’s so bloody freezing outside!

  7. love how your outfit matches the neon sky.. it makes you forget that one should be worried about the pollution and just enjoy life lighting it up with color!
    xx

  8. YOU GO GIRL!!! I had the best day ever today – no trains running so I couldn’t get to work! woohoo! But a little blizzard didn’t stop me getting to Topshop Oxford Circus to buy two pairs of heels! BEST DAY EVER!!!

  9. I finally understand why the sky has an orange tinge to it when it snows… thank you, Susie! Hahahaha..

  10. Oh that was why the sky was orange! I sound so dumb I know! Work those tights well! and that picture of the big ben in miniture snow form is TOO COOL.

  11. its fun when the weather is bad and there is no sun to dress so colorfull…makes you feel happy and playfull…good choice the bright colours…you look great

  12. I love bright colours to cheer an otherwise cold & grey day! Love yours! πŸ™‚ And yay! Snow! My sister didn’t go to work (due to the snow and all transport ‘being down’) and said it felt like being sent home early from school…being over 40 degrees here, I wish they’d do the same here! πŸ™‚

  13. omg ditto with the falling over, i nearly went back home right away! your outfit is effing amazing, very inspired

  14. Aw you look lovely! It snowed here in Cork today as well, but the snow didn’t settle.. It melted when it hit the ground. And I was indoors the whole time this happened πŸ™ I want a trip to London!!

  15. Ah i totally get what you mean by the evil glances.
My big blue cardigan, shorts and gold socks were not well apriciated in my small Essex town.
But i was wearing TWO pairs of tights and TWO cardigans,
how is that unsencible i ask you?
You pull of the brights so well, the coat and tights look amazing together.

  16. haha on the radio this morning, they were talking about the huuuge amounts of snow you got in London,(which would actually be quite normal here in Montreal) and they said that many people weren’t properly dressed for the cold. I was like “Susie…?”

  17. the snow is amazing! it’s snowed here in for the first time in 20 years! and i’m meant to be travelling to london later =/ uh oh!
orange sky is such a beautiful song…

  18. you look funny! the pink coat is awesome, it’s just perfect for a perfect winter like this.
hey Susie, what’s happening with London’s palm trees, since they’re not used to snow? πŸ™‚

  19. I’m actually moving to london for a while, but after reading a few of your entries I must admit I’m a bit frightened now.. πŸ˜›
People seem very mean and judgemental of other peoples’ clothes in London. πŸ˜€
    GREAT outfit!
