Fashion at Work

>> Imagine an office where I’m snapping Binx the model, Alexa Chung is getting vox pops, Nicola Formichetti is doodling on a chalkboard and the likes of Stephen Jones, Suzy Menkes, Carine Roitfeld are asking/answering questions like “Who’s the funniest/flamboyant/toughest person in fashion?” and Katie Grand is Skypeing Virginie Mouzat.  Yup, apparently that’s the kind of company I’d be keeping if I was working on Business of Fashion‘s and i-D‘s imaginary fashion office.  It’s also the kind of insane company that I jostle next to in Business of Fashion’s 2014 edition of the BOF500 – the people shaping the global fashion industry.  Yikes.  That’s some kind of huge.  Better to think of the list as a sort of ranking where I’m definitely towards the 500 end of the list rather than the reverse (even though, it’s not actually ranked in any particular order).  Still, I’m happy to make up the numbers and come in with my DSLR to snap away at Binx in this funny short directed by Aaron Rose.

“This is the world where every fleeting moment is spent finding perfection in the chaos and the price of admission is nothing less than everything you’ve got,” says a booming voiceover.  “If anyone in their right mind ever choose to exist in this universe.  Only the maddest of men, the driven, the dreamers, the lovers and the fighters.”  The fashion office might be a fantasy but the final sentiment certainly isn’t too far from the truth .

  1. I am not too sure about the video, but if its proclaiming to feature the people shaping the global fashion industry I think you are definitely the right person to be in it!

  2. Association with the fashion industry has always fascinated me and after this blog I am totally in awe of the cool and creative environment of fashion business. I am glad you posted something like this; it strengthened my want to be in the world of fashion and experiment with my own style more freely.
