Museum Mayhem

>> I may be in Tokyo right now, the birthing land of Dover Street Market and all things Comme but that doesn't make it less painful to be posting about the legendary Dover Street Market Market sale that is happening in London this coming weekend.  This is the second time that I've been out of the country when it's happening and no doubt it will be all the more excruciating to see people tweeting things like "Oh my god, I just found a Tao by Comme des Garcons shirt for ¬£40!"  As the flyer says, DSM will be hauling out EIGHT years worth of stock from the Comme universe as well as the brands the store has supported, with discounts between 70-75%.  They've given the sale "Museum" theme but I very much doubt clothes will be behind glass cases and we, the onlookers will be walking around quietly observing. I predict pandemonium but I believe stock is going to be replenished regularly so it shouldn't really be a matter of getting there at the crack of dawn on Friday for first dibs.

In the meantime, I'm still plotting out a plan so that I can simultaneously shop for old Comme in my favourite Tokyo haunts AND have someone at the sale doing some shopping for me.  There's a first.  Shopping in two cities at once for pretty much the same thing.  A dangerous activity indeed.  I'll assess and of course report back on the spoils of the weekend soon enough.

  1. What a funny use of the word ‘museum’! I know the term ‘curated’ gets thrown about a bit, but I’ve not come across ‘museum’ used in a commercial context like this before.
    Good luck with the dual-shopping!
