You Look Bright

>> "Alright darlin'!  Ow' are ya!  Looking bright as always!"

Match days at Arsenal football club mean that I can normally smell a burger/hot dog van from my apartment and I get greeted as above by the nice man who sells non *cough* official footie merchandise.  I think he finds me very amusing as I swan about coming in and out, completely detached from the Gooner crowd.  Little does he know that I actually enjoy nothing more than a cup of tea and pedantic "Arsenal in crisis" comments on Guardian's CiF.  The army of red today must have gotten momentarily blinded as I wafted amongst the football goers in an outfit that can only be described as a confusing cacophony of kimono references.  An actual inside-out kimono, a Y-3 collaged hurisode print shirt dress, a Miu Miu shibori floral skirt and a ceramic motif-derived pair of shoes by Dries Van Noten make for a rather strange mix where an abstract take on the traditional meets Western derived Japonisme.  I blame a late night session searching like mad on Yoox and the fact that feeling run down and subdued, tends to have an adverse effect where my wardrobe decides to vomit all over me.

  1. Oh Susie, are you a Gooner, too? As if I didn’t <3 you enough already. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My little joke with myself is that I collect iPad cases but have no iPad… or rather I’ve been given a ton of designer iPad cases but as yet, haven’t bothered to buy an iPad…

  3. Ah, but you look wonderful! Your eye for patter mixing is just superb. I have too many iPad cases as well (and no iPad!)…they really are the perfect size for a clutch!

  4. So many different patterns together, but it all just really works. Not a typical Arsenal-outfit, but I can’t see you in anything else, haha. Hope you’ve been having a good weekend!

  5. Great pattern match, the best found on those Van Noten heels! Only he pays attention to minute details like those.

  6. The mixture of different prints can look confusing, but you managed to pull it off somehow! The details of the Dries van Noten shoes look a little cartoony and I love the close up. Haha, I have so much iPad cases, but I only use one of them… and it has a duck on it cause, you know, ducks are cool.

  7. You’re right! There’s such a BLATANT difference though between a yukata and a kimono…. I don’t think he’s all that concerned about comments though…. I guess he gets so many, it’s hard to keep track!

  8. love this look! There used to be a lady at Portabelo Market who transformed vintage kimonos into modern accessories an alternative pieces like this too.
Would love to re post this on my site.
