>> Exceptions need to be made in the case of the humble scrunchie when Fred Butler is involved. A loose silk satin scrunchie arrived in the mail printed with hand-painted swashes of colour from her S/S 12 collection and I didn't spurn it for its scrunchie state. Its function as a hair holding/securing device has long been tossed out of the window. Its decorative purposes are also questionable given that they've previously come in fetching fabrics such as crushed velvetine, chambray or lame, dotted with a few random diamantes if the scrunchie maker is feeling razzy. Therefore I'm taking Fred Butler's 21st century scrunchie and using it to hide my top knot/bun misdemeanours by simply placing it over the bun without twisting it back on itself so that it's more like a Victorian/Edwardian lace-cap perched on top of my bulbous head. The scrunchie isn't back permanently to haunt your swishy ponytail but when it comes under the guise that Fred Butler has given it, I'm giving it the pass…
A Bit of Scrunch
Why do westerners hate scrunchies so much? They’re fine in asia, people don’t even bat eyelids.
You know what? I have secretly loved these scrunches all my life. I have a faux leather one that I love and the uglier ones I keep for my homewear, but I still love them.

the scrunchies kinda reminds me of the ones I made when I was in high school using my grandma’s spare fabrics (she had a dressmaking shop) xx
Hi!
I going to London in this weekend, and i thought it would be fun to visit some cool and fun shops. And restaurants with delicious food.
So i just wanted to hear if you had some great places to go ? 😀

So many BAD connotations to even list….! I’ve personally never really understood them as hair bands seeing as they’re normally too loose to hold my hair and as decoration, well the ones I remember from my youth were pretty awful looking…
I think it’s mostly the bad 80s/90s hair dos that give people shudders about the scrunchie…
Susie, you make the scrunchie immediately chic… 🙂

lovely hairpiece!
I remember when my little cousin used to wear them, but it was something very Canadian, she had family there n they used to buy her clothes w a matching scrunchie!! lol It was really tacky back then, and today it makes laugh looking back in the pictures…
But I think what makes this one so great, is the colours, the material and obviously the way u wear it!! Do u know what, fashion is cycle, so maybe scrunchies will be back for summer!!We ll see!!

this post makes me wish I was 8 years old and could wear scrunchies again! I never really got why everyone thinks they’re so terrible. I always thought they were awesome. I had this set of six velvet ones in dark colors when I was a kid, that I completely treasured. the only bad thing about them would be if the elastic would snap inside the scrunchie and you would be left with this long band of cloth.
I truly appreciate the content of your website.. Keep going.
