>> New Designer from Far Flung Place alert. It's been a while since one of those beeped. Alright, Budapest in Hungary is not that far flung but it's not exactly a place I have any knowledge of, fashion or otherwise. Pleasant surprise then to have this flurry of colour flood my inbox, the one time when a 5mb attachment is most pleasing to me.
Dori Tomcsanyi is still studying for her MA in Budapest but has been keeping busy with collections that she launches through her Hungarian fashion showroom initiative. For her latest one she got colour happy, taking cue from 60s graphics as well as the more obvious strands of colour blocking that has pervaded the S/S 11 collections and onto the streets. A tweet popped up the other day that expressed their tiring of colour blocking as if it was a rampantly widespread trend. It's easy to forget that within the 'bubble' (uh-huh-uh-huh), we seemingly *think* we might have been bombarded by a trend when really it's the repetition on the internet that is playing tricks on our eyes. In reality, colour blocking hasn't made the impact that say a floaty gypsy dress still floods London's streets in the summer.
Therefore, Tomcsanyi's Colour Project (she says Color, I say Colour – because I like a superfluous 'u') is still in my eyes something to welcome with open arms. The majority of these fairly simple and visually effective pieces are already set up ready to sell in her webstore and more than reasonable prices. She's made her clothing all the more persuasive with a popping lookbook that really shows the smart way she has played with colour. A shifting of seasons won't deny me the still-abundant opportunities to shout with Tomcsanyi's shades of colour.
I love the colours !!!

Wow, the colours in her work is awesome and I really love the make up she’s chosen for the model. Love the way it picks up the colours and the shapes of the garments themselves!
Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is great blog. A great read. I will certainly be back.

So glad to see you featuring Dori! Her work has been a favorite topic of mine to blog about for the past two years. I had a feeling you’d be right at home with this collection of hers.
It’s like spinning the color wheel and splashing whatever colors whirl off onto an outfit. Wonderful!
