Head Case

>> I know I'm getting dangerously animated-GIF happy these days.  I don't want to induce headaches but I do like them for the sheer fact that multiple pics take up the space of one.  The equivalent of the Ikea Billy bookcase in the blogosphere if you will.  Plus, when the likes of Fleet Ilya strings his strikingly shot portraits of his new leather visor range into one handy GIF, it's hard not to replicate it…

VISOR-HOMEPAGE1

Fleet Ilya has increasingly lightened up the tone in his main accessories collection as a contrast point to his mainstay of 'Restraint' accessories that are strictly black and have you bound up in harnesses and handcuffs  Following on from a S/S 11 collection that explored pastel and nude-shade leathers, we have a range of visors that come in pink, turquoise and nude in addition to the more conventional black and tan.  The three styles vary from a classic visor shape to a skeletal version of a cap where straps are done up over the head in a racer back or t-bar shape.  This is pretty much like Meccano for the head where thick leather pieces are pieced together with rivets and buckles.

I naturally went for a particular shade of bubblegum pink that has slowly been infiltrating my wardrobe namely because of a few pieces from COS (which I'm wearing in the headshot below).  I trialled it out at Port Eliot over the weekend and there was a slightly problem of negotiating between the visor and my hair's top knot (it was strictly dry shampoo only whilst camping…) but the racer back shape of the visor actually handily solved the problem.  Like the back of a baseball cap, the handy 'hole' meant that I could shove a mid-head ponytail through it.  I also momentarily relived year 6 at primary school, where on school trips we all had to wear a monogrammed cap and I found myself constantly pulling my hair through the hole, wishing my hair wasn't an awkward length of slippery mess.

  1. This is a really good color, The is something really cool about how this head piece is put together, very minimalistic, you can def see the “harness” details that represent fleet ilya in the hats, like it a lot:)

  2. These hats are awesome i wish if i could buy them =(

  3. First time saw this hat, what a cute and fun hat!!
Share with my friend, and she want to buy one 🙂

  4. I love these visors; the fact that their unisex is great! (seeming that the majority of the time I see something I like, yet then have to question whether it is a girls piece or not, seeming I’m a guy and a girls bag might give the wrong impression.) – Plus, the color you picked is lovely! – Daniel Dunt
