After three days of being surrounded by impeccably dressed men at Pitti, who don't get so much as a sock out of joint, I'm rebelling in the form of this post filled with items that you're probably most least likely to see strutting around the grounds of Fortezza de Basso in Florence. I blame this post-Tokyo-blues relapse on returning home to London with bungled up baggage problems, twenty mosquito bites, drizzling rain and a broken washing machine. Right now, Sabrina (1954) is soothing some of that way…
…and these bizarro slash awesome finds from Harajuku 90s vintage/one-off emporium Dog are exactly the sort of things I need to see after overdosing on prescribed good taste and well-mannered dress. These pics don't convey the full shebang that Dog is all about seeing as it's stuffed to the brim with pieces that are used, but difficult to describe as vintage in some respects. When pieces are brand new, they are most likely to be one-off special-order accessories that adorn the shop as well as being stock available for sale. Noritaka Tatehana leopard shoes, a pair of lime green PVC shorts and a Moschino Cheap & Chic newspaper jacket are just some of the stellar finds from Dog, which reassure me that having something just a little bit 'wrong' or 'off' in an outfit is no bad thing.
Once again, raised platforms of the Buffalo type continue to plague me and these ones definitely remind me of Boris from East Village Shoe Repair and his supersized platform creations.
If I hadn't already weighed my luggage at the time (10kg over the limit between myself and Steve – thanks to Singapore Airlines for letting me off the hook), these Y-3 clonkers would be on my feet right now, as I sit here watching 1950s Hubert de Givenchy on the iMac whilst thinking about all the 'wrong' clothes I need to wear as a homecoming refresher.
the tokyo blues… 🙁
what an eye-candy post! i can imagine how you must feel after pitti – looking at the pictures in the media alone made me feel like an ugly little duck
This place looks crazy fun. Did you try on the leopard shoes at all? Every time I see those things I wonder how hard they actually are to walk in…

Woww. This is pretty much the coolest thing ever. I love those shorts. And that huge alienoid (Word says that’s not a word, but I feel like it should be?) headress, the striped platform sneakers, that newspaper-print jacket. And especially the spiky orange thing. Don’t know what it is, but I love it! Oh, also, the jacket with all the bridges- those are lit up bridges, right? Very retro, but I kind of think it’s so out of place it transcends time maybe?
Sorry for the rant 🙂
gotta love the crazy leopard shoes and the plastic shorts!

All those pieces are fabulous. I especially love the green plastic shorts, I wonder what you’d wear underneath them?
