Heat Sap

>> I've crumpled up into an unrecognisable sweaty heap in Singapore.  The hot and humid air has crashed down on me, forcing me to go into baby mode, which consists of nothing but sleeping and eating and thus has reduced blogging frequency here (I have a fair bit Singapore-related to go up…!).  However, it's got to be said… Singapore is for me, intrinsically tied with food and if a decent portion of time WASN'T spent eating, I'd be shaming my family and my reputation for being able to pack five meals a day.  This is a paltry "PAUSE BLOG" notice I'm afraid but rest assured, that once I've digested the plates of chicken rice, hokkien mee, black pepper crab and cups of soursup juice (as seen here…), I'll be back on track – fatter and smilier – the way my Lau genes had always intended me to be…

  6. Oh my, I can’t wait for you to tell us more! I’m especially proud of the food we have here in Singapore and would recommend it to ANYONE who comes here. So I’m so glad you went for the hawker centers/coffeeshops to eat. They have the BEST food!!! πŸ™‚ And you get a sense of our eating culture as well πŸ˜‰

  7. Really looking forward to what your have found in Singapore and what I missed a few weeks ago. After lots of family visits over the past 10 years it’s really changed and I found it a little bit difficult to get a real Singapore based creative fix last time. Haji lane was great and so gorgeous, spent a very long time gushing over the beautiful fabrics in Arab street and found some pretty cool vintage style bras in Mustsfas! I agree it’s the best food found anywhere in the world and too got quite a bit fatter over 10 days πŸ™‚

  8. Ooh, would LOVE to hear/read about your ‘must do/see/eat/shop’ in Singapore. I am going there for my first time next month!

  9. Oh one of my favourite places in the world and yes, the food is a big part of it. Did some fabulous shopping in Little india though if you can muster the energy to head there. Gorgeous, embroidered cotton tops, sequinned flip flops, hot colours…Beautiful Mosques there as well to look around and feel calm in. Enjoy!

  17. I am sooo jealous of your Singapore trip. My Food-ilcious motherland. The only place that I think about what to have for lunch when eating breakfast, what to have for dinner when I’m eating lunch and so on.
