True Blue

>> Ongoing conversation topic in my Paris casa where I'm rooming with a backstage photographer and a streetstyle photographer?  The rising onslaught of streetstyle photographers and the general public that seemingly stalk the gardens of Tuileries with point-and-shoots, DSLRs and Polaroid cameras.  It's a group of people that keeps rising in numbers every season so much so that when you're walking through the gardens, a two minute walk can turn into a fifteen minute one if you're polite and say yes to everyone.  I'm not talking about me by the by.  I'm no Anna dell Russo or Caroline Issa that's for sure.

Still, you wonder what part of cyberspace these snaps all go.  I only get little bits of reverb through Twitter, Facebook and email.  Like these snaps by Gianluca Senese of the blog Nobody Knows Marc who kindly sent them to me via email.  Ah‚Ķso that was the point just before the Viktor & Rolf show where I stopped by the stone pillar thingy.  Well, I'll take that visual reverb and run with it.  This is a sort of odd assembly of blues that should never have been.  The velvet dress that accidentally had its dye run all over the place in a dry cleaning mishap.  A Neil Barrett blue leather jacket that I shouldn't have bought from Tokio 7 given it was err… menswear but had to because of this particular shade of blue.  A pair of blue cashmere socks from Topshop that are two sizes too big so had to be worn bunched up.  The other components are pitch perfect though as items on their own – the hardworking Mulberry bag which has been with me on every trip thus far since buying it and a pair of Heavy Machine shoes from the new S/S 11 collection which are as ever, comfortable with maximum visual effect.  Still, it all looks ish-ok in the flood of sunlight that Paris has been getting these past few days.

  1. The multiple shades of blue are delightful, I can’t get enough of it. However you put blue together that it looks like intentional colour co-ordination not “oh shit this is all blue…ahhhh where is some other colour!”
    Just think of the increase of street style shooters as your own personal paparazzi, it’s a compliment right?

    Just for telling you to have a look at the Chanel store where i work, it is 25 rue Royale, just 2 footsteps near Place Vendome, i am sure you know this place better than me.
    And LOVE LOVE the dress, i have a crush on it. waouh.

  32. I think shades of blue is so interesting and I can stare at your outfit for hours! It’s one of those concepts that I am grappling with…what makes it so interesting?! Haha I’ll have to mull over it some more, thanks for the inspiration.

  34. Loving the outfit, true blue will definitely be one of the big colours of the season! It totally brought a fresh accent to your outfit. Like the way you bunged up the cashmere socks that are two sizes too big too!

  35. I saw you coming out of the Alexander McQueen fashion show today and I was tempted to call out your name (I was standing right along the fence where people were coming out). I didn’t, but I wish I had! Hope that the show was awesome! I saw them come out with the racks of clothes afterwards and it looked incredible.

To be honest Im really quite happy about the rise in street style photography, it helps as my camera is definatly not up to scratch not to mention that I wouldnt have a clue how to take a good ‘shot’ and this way not being part of the various fashion weeks and not having the oppertunity to see all these outfits in real life I now have the luxuary of sitting in my pjs with a cup of tea looking at what everyone had on! oh, and im loving the blue by the way. perfect shade. x
