>> Alright alright, I'm running at a devastatingly slow pace and I've been in Moscow for almost three days without a word or a pic on anything Moscow related. That will surely be rectified now that the Mastercard Cycles and Seasons event will be properly kicking in. For now, there's been a lot of wiling the daytime hours away which today included rides around the STUNNING Metro, lunch at Cafe Pushkin and a trek to Novodevichy Cemetery and Monastery only to have it shut in our face as it's closed on Tuesdays. This was all made possible by our guide for the day, Julia Vydolob, senior fashion editor of from what I vaguely gather is the Russian version of Fashionologie/Fashionista/Refinery29 all rolled into one – Lookatme.ru. My one Moscow-related tidbit for the day before I really grind down to work editing out needless pics of architecture (I will resist posting 50+ pics of interesting Cyrillic typography…) is Julia here demonstrating how she ties her headscarf. It's sort of an updated/sleeker take on the 'babushka' style which is a triangle tied under the chin but here Julia ties another knot at the back and tucks it into her coat collar. Stupidly simple but nonetheless we were impressed… she probably thought we were idiots for filming it…

The scarf is just amazing, definitely a piece that will transform an outfit. =)

So cute! That’s also similar to a way that some Muslim sisters put on their veil.

It was a great day and thanks for the lovely post and video!
This is funny b/c that’s how Muslim women wear scarves, except we tend to pull it forward to cover our hair π
Really nice video! Thanks for sharing!
What a great way to wear a scarf! PS. I don’t think you were idiots for filming this video…we film some videos that are considered “dumb” like my “latest tip for work-out gear”…

This way of tying a scarf was very popular in the 50`s & 60`S.
