>> In general, I've been lagging in the exhibition front in London considering there are SO many that are fashion-related, relevant, well-curated with more to come as well in March when Yohji Yamamoto will be taking over the V&A as well as the Wapping Project.  I'm trying to do catch up as fast as I can but in the meantime, I'm lucky enough to partake in the events that coincide with exhibitions, exemplified by Royal Academy's GSK Contemporary season exhibition 'Aware: Art Fashion Identity' on until the end of this month.  The lovely people at RA have put together a series of Salon talks that are in the spirit of the 18th century salons that flourished in Great Britain and France.  The programme is quite an impressive one when you look at the themes as well as the participants.  Oh, and more importantly, there's CAKE provided by Sketch.  And it's FREE.  Sadly, a few of them are already fully booked as each salon can only hold 25-30 people I believe.  But it's worth having a click about the website if you're around next week for the festivities.  I'm personally gutted to be missing Yinka Sonibare and Helen Storey's salons…

I'm speaking on the 18th January with senior research fellow at LCF Dr Agnes Rocamora once again where we'll be discussing our love for the way fashion is communicated in media.  Or just scoffing cake collectively with the poor souls who turn up.

**EDIT** Errr…. so I'm not sure what happened but within ten minutes of posting about it on Twitter and here all the tickets are gone for my talk.  To be fair, 25-30 isn't a huge capacity.  Still.  Here's to dedicating a post to cakes and conversation – I'll try to report back if I can get into any of the other talks!

  1. I still feel stung out a year after the end of my MA after studying so much on Fashion Identity and Art. I don’t trust myself to go for fear of heckling and throwing cakes! xx

  2. crikey yours has sold out now! The biographical wardrobe one looks great too, but i think they’re all booked up. I guess there’s a pretty big audience out there for things like this 😀

  3. Thanks ! Exactly what I needed to know , will help with my MA projects .

  4. Here’s hoping that BECAUSE of the sold out crowds that eventually there WILL be a video of your event.
