Familiar Face

My mind has lapsed into instances where I'm staring off into space, scratching away at a dried up scab from lack of energy, sapped up by the heat and din of today (for obvious reasons…).  The good thing is, I don't need to say anything particularly intelligent, useful or insightful (not that I succeed in being any of those things most of the time…) about the latest collection from Inside Out.  It was quite simple really.  This much loved trompe l'oeil British label happened to have a stand at Pitti W in Florence.  I swung by with a camera.  Raided their racks for pieces to photograph whilst they weren't being harassed by buyers and we had a few peach bellinis whilst we were *ahem* hard at work.

I've posted their collections so repeatedly but I promise that each time in doing so, there are changes that are entirely discernable.  For S/S 11 (yes, we are thinking that far ahead…), they've introduced new prints that reference original 80s badge-hammered denim waistcoats (I believe this one belonged to designer Yvette White).  I must move on though as there are too many memories of people nicking the badges off my Eastpak rucksack at school (seriously, after every lunch break, one or two would disappear…).

Plaid that has been criss-crossed around is also a new print…

…as well as this thick chunky wool 'knit' which isn't in fact thick or chunky at all…

In some cases, fabrics have been placed in certain ways so that the effect isn't so much a directly recognisable motif but more like a graphic pattern…

This slip has been continued from last season and there's a dress where the straps are actual slip straps.  I like that the detail with the lace hem at the bottom – undoubtedly my favourite part of a good lace slip is the lace which pokes out from whatever I'm wearing over it…

My favourite piece as proven by this cheeky/cheese grin is the printed scarf that is again, neither thick nor chunky but still exudes the look of a chunky scarf.  The other half has just acquired a rather 'jaunty' summer scarf by 1205 in the sale so I may have to do one better and try and acquire this particular 'jaunty' number.  You can never say 'jaunty' too many times in one sentence by the way….

  1. I adore Inside Out…have two tops of theirs. Godawful name for a company though. Pretty much un-Google-able.
