Controlled Art Attack

>> Alright, so I've been lazy today because I've just landed in New York and having dealt with a very odd flight of Delta pizza boxes sliding all over the floor and policemen stomping onboard when we landed, my brain can't handle any more than just a note to say that today is an Ana Locking day with sentiments towards her shoes shared by Kingdom of Style.

I never got to say how much I would have loved to have seen Locking's A/W 10-11 collection in motion given that as a backdrop to her 'Spinning Destiny' collection was an actual spinning wheel of projected colours reflecting the palette of the intensely bright marbled collection.  Give me a set with spinning wheels and I'm a square-eyed piece of pliable putty.  Give me slightly garish, slightly naive ways of colour application and I can't help but regress to reruns of Art Attack in my head.  Ana Locking's colour wheels are therefore most welcome…

From the shot above though, rather than going wild for the heels and wedges that come paint splattered and caged up…

…I'm more taken with the printed desert boots for men that would make a sturdy companion (with an artistic temperament…) for my Clarks paisley print boots…

Despite all the colourful strokes that made for an exciting show wheel and finale of acrylic painted textures, I also favoured the more muted looks… the camel and dusky pink working a treat in this sharp wool cape… as well as in the menswear blazer where a little gem of pink shines through.  There are only so much wheeled capers the eyes can take after all.

  1. I totally love these colourful jackets and boots!! TOTALLY!
I have an old white trench that I’m bored of.. maybe I should give it a try and see what happens!
I’ve already coloured the bottons and it already looks a bit more interesting.. I guess I’ll give it the “full treatment” this afternoon 😉

  2. MY GOD!
    a) I used to have a crush on the Art Attack guy, and
    b) Those wedges – not to mention the whole collection – are amazing!!!
Thanks for posting, I would have missed this otherwise!

  3. Makes me want to start splashing colors all over certain clothes! Although that muted camel-pink cape steals my heart!
p.s.That flight sounded odd alright, I’d say scary!

  4. Why have I not heard of Ana locking before?? These are amazing. Gotta check out her website! Love the paint wheel in the background too – did you make those as a kid? I used to love doing them.
Did you ever find out what was going on with the arrests on your plane? When you tweeted about it I googled “delta jfk arrest” but nothing recent came up…

  5. OMG, this is just stunning. The colour combinations are absolutely awesome. I know how hard it might get sometimes to pull together great colours for a collection and especially to make sure that they all work together. Well, Ana s done some pretty good job.
Thanks for sharing Ana’s work. Loved looking through her website.

  8. Hi!
I don’t know what to think about this collection in acrylic painting!
I prefere the man’s blazer. so nude. so chic.
In this connection, I’m looking for more information about a fresh parisian brand: “Studio Mega Fun”.
    Do you know this brand???
    Samuel.

  9. From the bottom up, the second picture is so your style!! The pale pink, the long blazer, the casual… 🙂

  10. Your arrival reminds me of the t-shirts that say “Welcome to New York” — then there’s an image of a gun — then “Duck, motherfucker!” under that.
Just how we like to greet people, that’s all.
