Torso in Clouds

I had meant to delve my head into some clouds, specifically this cloud print jacket by Limedrop sooner since I came back with it from Sydney but now that the sky is pretty much a cloudless bright bright blue in London, I thought I'd bring the clouds back via this post.  Limedrop is another Melbourne-based label that headed to RAFW for some sales activity and so outside of the shows, we headed out to Surry Hills to chill out, meet designers Clea and Nathan as well as check out their new S/S 11 collection.

I came away with specifically jacket that is a super light silk twill, which is easy breezy enough to wear even in this weather.  And that's even without the cloud print.  With it, and you're wanting to wear it on days like these when you can stand on the Heath and literally be painting the background with some portable clouds… patchwork altocumulus on the go anyone?

I also loved the clouds on this draped cape coat (I say coat but again, it's super super light!) that one half of Limedrop, designer Clea was wearing when I met her…

The label caters to both guys and gals and the clouds appear in a more abstracted form on this merino jacket cardi

Untitled1 Like I said before, there seems to be a breed of designers down there
that excel at clothes that are 'easy' but never too simple and never
without interest and best of all fairly affordable as designer fare
goes.  Limedrop is certainly one from this breed that takes travel brochure browsing to a new level.

Their new S/S 11 collection takes us down from the clouds and back down to earth, though "Far From Home".  It's all still an easy breezy affair though with 'preppy' basics taking twists through holiday prints, plays on proportions (especially with the longer lengths at the back…) and more luxurious fabrics such as silk mesh, texurised linens and more of that silk twill.  I loved that both men and women slip in and out of the blazers quite effortlessly rendering a lot of the pieces unisex.

In light of recent events, perhaps Limedrop will venture to place printed volcanoes on a jacket?

**EDIT** How could I have omitted this cutie of a picture of the designers Clea and Nathan wearing both current and future season clouds and mountains… the print fun is for guys AND girls!

  1. i love this clouds thing a lot!
i’ve bought a tee at lefties, barcelona, that seems to have clouds… but it’s actually just dyed.
shini at park and cube once made a pair of cloudy tights, too… i didn’t like the pearl embelishment, but the thights alone looked amazingly cloudy. check it out:

  5. Susie, I am in love with your jacket. You could be a sky goddess that walked straight out of a cloud bank in that outfit, it’s fantastic. And those shoes!!!!!!!! So airy…it’s a really, really great look. Definitely getting bookmarked for my look book.
I love Aussie designs, they’re so mischievous and alluring. I would give my left arm for that draped cape coat. *sigh*

  6. I bought that gigantic shrug (the one you said it is a jacket/coat w/ cloud) and it is just what I am looking for…long, stylish w/ bold prints!!
    Thanks for sharing!!!

^ Me too. I actually looked up the drape cape coat to see how much it was (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…ha) and almost died of sticker shock.
I’ll just have to sigh and admire from afar. πŸ™‚
