>> Perhaps it's got something to do with the fact that down under, they're more at one with greenery, nature and birds. Perhaps in Australia, the birds come swooping down and plopping onto shoulders like they do in Disney films and then both bird and person breaks out into simultaneous sing song. Perhaps this is all just ridiculous conjecture. How else though to explain the very much lifelike bird prints that descended upon Bassike's S/S10-11 collection, given a graphic treatment in the men's shirt but remaining pretty realistic for the most part. I particularly love the use of it on this half-trench, half-dress piece as well as of course the looooong dress. P.S. There's a lot of easy and wearable looong going on down under…
… in addition, I was reminded of Alpha 60 's beady birdy eyes that were presented in Melbourne in March. There's less of a literal birdy invasion going on right now back at home, sparked off by S/S10 Miu Miu and possibly ending its journey at Zara, as we 'northerners' seem to prefer our birds cleaned-up, daintified and err… well… less bird-like. I happen to have my Gemma Degara barn owl top here to weigh in on the bird action… still, those gentle eyes have slightly less of a predatory flighty feel that Bassike and Alpha 60 showcase…
don’t the birds sound fuckign weird in australia? instead of waking up to the usual tweeting sound… they’re annoying spastic sounds… hard to articulate really.
Ahh I love the Bassike, beautiful and feathery. I’ve just posted about Alpha 60 and Gemma Degara, we win!

it’s true when they say that miuccia prada’s leading the way into trends. she did the bird thing and now everyone is inspired by it

the capes are perfect because they look like wings!
No we’re talking. This is some seriously fierce print! Although I truly love the whole Miu miu esque prints at the moment this is a nice change! <3

the 1st dress is adorable
This bird movement is a massive mega win. I am all for it. As much as I love a good cheesy howling wolf, birds feel more fresh.
i really like these.
i love the owl print . absolutely beautiful
Love owl..so love the print. The one i love most is the bottom left the silk print one.
the feathery print works on that trench/dress
I saw you on the news (I live in Tasmania, the small island under Australia) last night! You were front row and looked very happy.
This reminds me an awful lot of Ann Demeulemeester’s s/s10 collection…
This seems like a very dark but meaningful collection to me.
I’ve seen on Topshop some t-shirt with printed wings that really remind me of these ones…
Thanks for sharing with your blog 🙂
