I didn't mean to drop into Beyond the Valley yesterday.  The prism formations in the window along with the mountains and the roses drew me in.  Actually, let's talk about these mountains and roses… all I could think of when staring at Beyond the Valley's own collection's S/S 10's most mesmerising mountain print was somewhere in those snow-topped mountains, Sister Maria singing about raindrops and roses.  Let's ignore the fact that whilst there are roses, the BTV team were probably not even depicting Salzberg at all.  Let's also ignore the fact that Sound of Music was on over Easter
Weekend and I err… watched it for what is
probably the over-100th time…

We may be fast forwarding our brains to A/W10-11… it does feel good to be talking about stuff that is ACTUALLY in stores and in Beyond the Valley's case, the S/S 10 collection full of mountains, roses, crystal formations and op-art prints has arrived fully in store and online

Btv

Weirdly enough, the night before, I had googled KaPowWow!, my favourite ruff-meister (my only ruff-meister?) to see what they were up to and found no new news.  Then I popped into BTV to, find out the designer has been travelling around India collecting plenty of fabrics to make ruffs with as well as using Beyond the Valley's own collection of S/S10 fabrics to make these ruffs for them…

From mere window browsing, the mountains and roses got to me in a big way… how DO you solve a problem like a Maria-addiction?  Get a S/S silk kimono-style piece of course with this particularly invigorating print, which also magically slots another piece into the kimono jigsaw puzzle that Shrimpton Couture half-solved.  And yes, I may just be adding a little bit of confusion to the oh-so-popular 'Are you Japanese or Chinese?' question, but for the time being I can't' see this fluttering jacket with anything other than a top knot, some loose layers and these rocking horse sandals.

  2. Oh my goodness, that print is just stunning. I love the mixture of organic and geometric prints. It works really well.
You’re so lucky to have access to shops such as Beyond the Valley. I mean, of course, I can look online, but it’s just not the same. There’s no joy like exploring a shop like Beyond the Valley and being able to “ooh” and “aah” at all the beautiful clothes. I’ve only ever been in once, but it really is a little treasure trove, and is lovely to explore, even if you don’t end up buying anything!

  5. what an amazing impact digital textile printing is making in the fashion industry. I love how sublimation & digital printing is making 1,000 color+ prints easily achievable.
Ahh could you imagine the color separation for those silk screens!?!?!
