>> Technically, I haven't lied to you but I have been fooling you guys into thinking that I'm something of an anti-bag-snob. Pah to IT bags. Pah to them I say! Pah to the £1000+ bags that everyone is wearing simultaneously at any given time once celeb bag seeding takes place. Then the dirty truth started coming out and revealing itself to both myself and you guys. On Twitter, I sent out a questionable like over the Mulberry Alexa. It was a weird feeling of shame and desire. You guys concurred that I wasn't a fooligan for falling over it a little. I wrote it off as a one-off stumble.
Back to the bag-hate.
Then I started stroking Proenza Schouler's PS1 bags, the ones that along with the Alexa were doing battle on the satchel front, thrashing each other with buckles, fastenings and soft leather. After further stroking yesterday in Barney's, me thinks the PS1 wins just because it's got the deadly yet lux python on its side. Then I wake up to find that my very very kind other half Steve has been going to press days on my behalf and snapped this fucker of a bag. I'm not just throwing swearing about for no good reason in the same way that people call everything and anything 'killer', 'rad' and 'awesome' by the by. It is simply physically fucking up my brain as the diminishing cells are trying to calculate how many months of average-wage work it would take for me to be able to walk up to any department store counter and count out the notes for the bag (far more satisfying paying in ye olde cash…) in addition to being able to live sufficiently. Or perhaps this is why people call things 'killer'. Quite literally, people 'kill' their lives, living on nothing but toast and watching moths land on windows as entertainment, in order to enjoy their 'killer' bag. This specific PS11 bag wasn't in the A/W 10-11 show for some reason so I'm even more grateful for my temporary-blogging-partner-in-crime. Or am I grateful?
In any case, I've been lying to myself and to you. It's time to come clean… it's time to openly embrace the quilting, the tan leather, the surprising addition of the fur (which I inexplicably love…), the square and robust gems, the metal grill… all of those bag bits that have previously confuzzled me but today, is making complete sense.
Don't write me off. I promise this is THE exception that proves the rule…
