>> I think there are a few things you guys are hearing about…. grey jersey, long skirts and neoprene… quite an odd combination in itself but I guess it suits my brain for my obsessions to be so alarmingly disparate…
Well… I didn't go to the neoprene mountain. It came to me. Yesterday at a press day, I spied swimwear label Lisa Marie Fernandez had gotten some representation here and so comes a tightly compressed neoprene wardrobe, flying right at me without my even thinking about it. Alright that's a lie. I still can't get those Russh images out of my head. And yes, Kylie lyrics come naturally to me with fabric obsessions such as this one. Cynthia Rowley x Roxy's collaboration has also been plaguing the brain given that it's just launched on colette with some slightly eye-watering prices. Alexander Cassanti is a more affordable option. Looking at NAP, where Fernandez's stuff is stocked, this ain't cheap either. Though engineered with long sleeves, in more subdued colours, Fernandez's new collection probably encompasses the simplest and sleekest use of beloved neoprene, taking the material and using it just like a wool or a jersey which means it would feel less like you're paying for a bit of activewear to have a bit of 'fun' with. Yes, it's a material used to bond jackets, create panels and provide structure and has been used effectively by many-a-person, but if it's fairly un-tampered, pure-bred neoprene garms that you're after then Fernandez's collection of long sleeved dresses, bodies, leggings and zip skirts are pretty much spot-on…
Ok, just me then, once again harping on obsessively about something because I've got tunnel vision with certain materials…
The summer options seem to be the stepping stone to the more sombre A/W 10-11 collection that led Fernandez to elongating her bikinis and swimsuits to create dresses…
Oh My God! Love the swimwear! The dresses didn’t do it for me, though
This is WAY too much fun. Love it!

Love a bit of ‘prene! It’s lots of fun to sew with, much the same as swimwear. This is a dress I made recently using a bubble textured neoprene http://annikapol.blogspot.com/2010/04/v-raw-lookbook-from-deep.html
So glad you are coming to Sydney for RAWF Susie! You are in for a real treat xx
