Who doesn't LOVE Pamela Love?  No really, who doesn't?  I feel like talking about Pamela Love to New Yorkers as well as her hardcore international fanbase is pointing out the obvious.  Everything from her artisinal techniques, her Alejandro Jodoworsky-inspired aesthetic, her universe conveyed through stunning presentations as demonstrated by the S/S 10 collection, her own personal style and as I found when I visited her studio in New York; her surroundings… all of this contributes to only one conclusion really… "LOVE Pamela LOVE".  Hah!  The fashion lurvie inside me comes crawling out at the best of times.

Street Peeper Phil and I went over to Pamela Love's office, studio and workspace to see the light shining through the blinds onto her eponymous classic collections as well as her new collection.  I'm not concerned with questions of "Who started the animal skull jewellery crazy?" but I do believe that Love really OWNS this particular aesthetic that has been coming up in the ranks of jewellery trends (if there is such a thing..) especially when you see the stuff in person and observe her physically small, but spritually vast working space…

This is her classic collection, the pieces that are the bread and butter of Pamela's brand…

I've loved this sweeping teardrop double ring since I saw it at her Mac x Milk presentation… // The flint set in the rings on the right are all individually sourced…

There's an amazing weight to this cuff that requires nothing but a bare arm… rather than my prim n' proper shirt sleeve…

Love does many double/triple rings but her singular styles like the sword ring are also pleasingly chunky

These skull lace cut-out necklaces (EDIT Mexican paper cut-outs papel picado-inspired… noted, thanks EJ) are from her A/W 10-11 collection…

Also part of the A/W 10-11 collection which involves lots of mixed metals as well as a heart and dagger ace theme…

Again, I feel like my cruddy white shirt sleeve is ruining the effect of this amazing bracelet…

I got deja vu seeing these dream catchers again as they were on display at colette as part of the jewellery exhibition during fashion week…

As well as seeing her pieces in person, I was glad to see Pamela Love's working space which is like the intrinsic part of her world and her jewellery…

Cue an inspiration board that isn't exactly necessary to understanding Pamela's work but is a bonus if you wish to love Love even more…

Ditto with Pamela's cubby hole office… excuse the shaky shot here…

IMG_0134

It's this obsessive and observant curation and collection and ongoing fascination with the specific roots of her jewellery (Native America, mysticism, certain strands of science, vast landscapes…) that is definitely a contributing factor to the depth of Pamela's jewellery…

  3. this is incredible!!! I’m a huge fan of hers and love how her jewelry is so multidimensional (in terms of where she draws her inspiration from). That forearm brace looking cuff is amazing! It looks like something one would wear after a bad break, haha

  7. Wow! I really like, well, everything but the thing that I’ll dream about tonight are definitely the Mexican paper cut-out necklaces and that thick black cuff with the skull. It’s nice to see that though she may be producing her bread and butter, the skulls, she definitely is far far more than a one-trick pony. Love it all!

  8. I can’t stand her, but I bet you KNEW I’d say that. IF I See one more bird skull or talon, there’s gonna be trouble.

  9. It’s great that you wrote a post on her again. I’ve seen her work, but just couldn’t remember the name :p Awesome that you got to visit her studio, and thanks for reminding me of her!
