I feel like I've said everything I've had to say about Louise Gray, a designer who is so scarily attuned to my own personal style that every time I go to her presentations, (somehow Louise makes presentations really work for her where others can seem static and stale… ) I break out with thoughts of "How do I get enough money together to put together a massive personal order…?" and outright shrieks of joy.  Actually, how arrogant of me to even suggest that Louise is catering to my own personal style.  No, the beauty of Louise Gray's more recent collections (I'd say the past three…) is that Louise really designs with herself in mind which sounds like a pretty selfish endeavour but if the designer can't get behind their clothes, how can he/she convince other people to buy into it and Louise just happens to be an amazing spokesperson/model for her own stuff.

Her A/W 10-11 collection once again pushes the mix and match and layering possiblities to the max with an even bigger emphasis on fabric experimentations.  Entitled "Quilt Me, Change, Me", a lot of the fabrics involves shredding and layering up different colours to get a different take on quilting which are then applied to the slouchy shapes that you just want to put on in multiple pieces (that's where the imaginary unlimited funds come in…).

The thing that really makes me bleat with joy though is the fact that Louise is one of the few that honestly doesn't take into consideration, the 'movements' of fashion which is sending everyone into enraptures about the dawn of the new minimalism.  The day I see her doing clean lines and pattern/colour free clothes is… well… the day the Lau-brow (my eyebrows…) need to make an appearance to make a very very dramatic arch…

I can really see the lookbook figures jumping, smiling and goofing around which is why a bit of headache inducing flash animation is in order…

  3. wahoo! minimalism, scminimalism. i’m going to start getting worried if everyone starts buying into this trend….minimalism is all well and good but it’s damn boring on the majority. chic, yes. exciting, no. more layers! more clashing!

  4. Hello Susie,
I like her ideas and her use of fabric but it reminded me a great deal of Custo ‘s Designs which always have a great deal of patterns and colour mixes together with greatly contrasting fabrics.

  7. Louise Gray knows her colors and juxtaposes them to create interesting patterns and designs. Her style is definitely very you. It is unique without being serious. It is highly stylish with a punch of fun packed in. Always a good thing.

  8. I have fallen in love with Louise Gray too, I found her while venturing on asos.com (and I mean venturing, that means putting things into the basket even if you aren’t even dreaming of buying them..) and ever since then I have been a close follower of hers I may even have sent her a couple of stalker-ish fanmails in my head of course, teehee.
