>> D&G yesterday marked my first Milano show and frankly I surprised myself how much I ended up liking it. I mean, it's unashamedly taking themes of "skiing" (really BIG air quotation marks) and exploiting elements to an OTT point. OF COURSE nobody is actually going to be taking to the piste wearing this stuff. It's sort of like if there was a bimbo skit in a film and she's off to go "skiing" (again, big air quotes), these are the outfits she'd come up with. And that's actually no bad thing…
Two notes really…I was struck by the reindeer sweaters which made me dig up this photo I snapped of the lovely Lynn Yaeger (she says I dress "cute"… awww gosh…) at the Cushnie et Ochs show in New York. She was telling Julia Frakes about her collection of reindeer sweaters and took off her coat to reveal her yellow reindeer friends. She's got quite a collection supposedly. Will these D&G versions make the cut… perhaps the jumpsuit/onesie might be too much of an ask.
I on the other hand am all for the onesie. I'd also like to wear a reindeer Kigu suit over it just to add reindeer on top of reindeer…
Then there are these shorts. Y'all know how much I'm addicted to my Tao knitted shorts. I am however loathe to wear them these days as overwearing has caused severe bobbling. Before I take to knitting myself a pair, I might consider these slightly puffed out cuties which are not entirely knitted but do have knitted cuffs and waistbands (brilliant for indulging in mountains of fondue action no?). I quite like them in the PU and floral satin fabric. I've deliberately cut off the lower half though because instead of furry muk luk type boots (which the models were tripping up in so I'm assuming the heel is a little on the high side…), I'm considering these H by Harris quilted leather gaiters from his new collection that was presented on Wednesday as part of the Fashion East Menswear installations. He's doing his famed quilted jacket and backpack combo in more colours and has also added bits of womenswear too.
those bodysuits are SO VERY COVETABLE, i would grab one of those immediately, particularly good for the cold Northern weather! the knitted bodysuit would be amazing over some loose harem trousers, too. but, once again, you’re right: the shorts are winners in every sense and make me long for an alpine cabin somewhere, a fondue machine, powdery flakes and burly men with skis over their shoulders. good good good good post, Susie.

ugh, HATED the fur shorts (and alllll the boots…), but yeah the leather/florals were great; very cute. i pretty much either really loved or really hated most of the looks, very little middle ground in this collection (a case of when they were good they were very very good but when they were bad they were horrid, perhaps!)

I quite like the look of that very last one that is slightly mesh-like. I’ll probably never be one for reindeer jumpers and cardis but I certainly know a friend or two who collects such jumpers! They’re fun!
I’m not totally in love with the ski look (like the velvet and fur shorts don’t quite do it for me), but the boots I think are super cute… and warm! Follow/visit my blog when you get the chance!!

I agree with Rae, not totally in love with the skii look but I do understand your point.
Sometimes being there at the show helps get one caught in the middle of the mood an atmosphere that you dont get on style.com

I wouldn’t underestimate the power of Milanese women on settimana bianca…although some of these pieces might never make the trip to the mountain, I see those leather shorts and reindeer knits on a Cortina slope come November…and those furry boots might become a must-have amongst Milanese teenagers, I predict!

I don’t know, wouldn’t be surprised to find some of these suits (or the shorts) in St. Moritz or Aspen… But the will certainly look great in any city, too.
love the red body!!
Onesie for me please. Team with an indecent amount of fur and throw me some snow anyday. Xx feel free to check http://www.fashionclocked.blogspot.com Katie. Xx
I actually enjoyed the collection, sexy winter ski cabin wear, with a sence of humour about it. I think the use of prints, leathers, furs, knits and light weight fabrics works the collection. And I love the leather shorts.
It’s perfect! The patterns are great. I would’ve loved to wear some of this collection here in the winter time. It would definitely spice up my outfits…

I love a good reindeer jumper/cardigan, although I have seen better than the ones shown at D&G. I much prefer the one that Lyn Jaeger was wearing!
I do love those shorts though… I am currently knitting a pair of shorts/bloomers for uni and they’re looking pretty damn wonderful if I do say so myself! I can’t wait until they are marked and I can start wearing them!!

Oh, I like those poufy shorts! And neat styling ideas for those knits…
Pretty collection…it reminds me of something…BTW Sussie do try to visit Chocolat in Cadorna for some serious gelato (they also make an amazing chocolate-cherries-spice cake yum)& Princi’s -a sort of bakery perfect for quick snacks, my favorite locations were the one near Duomo & the one at 10 Corso Cuomo wich is perfect if you get to the store by the same name- for really good foccacia and they do a mean canoli with chocolate chips, oh yeah and pancerotti @ Luini’s also near the Duomo. Ja all the amazing milanese food I miss soooo much…will you be making it to the Marni outlet? a bit of a pain to find but worth it!
I’ve got a Kigu, the white tiger one. I got a bit excited when you mentioned a reindeer one but after a quick check I see it came from your imagination. You definitely need to get one and work it into an outfit somehow.
Those fur shorts are so great – perfect for apres ski!
OMG i love your blog so much!!!!

love the reindeer prints for a lack of a better word to call it, I will be off to get one of these! Andthe fur shorts.. well even the non fur shorts!x
I really enjoy Lynn Yaeger because she always seems to be miles ahead from most people. I would want to rummage through her closet.
The knitted onsie is on my radar for next cold season. How is Milan weather?

Is it just the chiffon pieces that have the reindeer printed on, or is it all of them. Either way, as both a knitter and a fan of trompe-l’oeil art, I’m highly amused. Don’t know if I’d wear it myself, but thanks for posting these.
i will say the to me the only cute things was the boot and the supous swimsiut made of fear i think…just my opinion

i really wish there were more weeks out of a year in which it were feasible to wear fur shorts. sadly, that’s like 2 hours out of one special day in fall. magically oxymoronic fashion is only wearable in my imagination. sigh, i guess that’s what runway shows are all about.
I love a good reindeer jumper/cardigan, although I have seen better than the ones shown at D&G. I much prefer the one that Lyn Jaeger was wearing! New Fashion Shopping Store Online shopping
