Rock Out

>> I know that comments will ensue with questions of "Where can I get these???".  I'll start off by saying that basically, you CAN'T buy them for love or money.  These shirts were created by art direction team Sandberg & Timonen for a special exhibition at the Brachfeld Gallery in Paris presented by Dorothee Perret.  Entitled "Live Alive", the shirts pay homage to the men and women rocking our fashion world (with just a handful of exceptions who may have declined to have their faces 'rocked' out on a shirt…).  The shirts are also dedicated to the hardcore fashion lovers who "have packed away their scrapbooks of magazine cut outs filled with dreams of teenage escapism" and "can remember the first fashion show they dared sneak into".  Hands up.  It's ok to admit that you are one.

Sadly these shirts just aren't for sale.  Only eight of each one were made and I'm told that most are already gone gone gone.  All proceeds from those limited sales did fortunately go to the Medecins Sans Frontieres' efforts in Haiti though.  So alas, we can only rock out to the thought of wearing one of these without the actual wearing of one.  Queen Michelle, this one's for you.  (Is dedicating a post to someone as good as doing it with a song?)

The exhibition at the Brachfeld Gallery (28 rue des Archives, Paris) is on until the 28th Feb if you so wish to take a look at them in the flesh.

  3. Haha these are too funny. For a girl who loves her band t-shirts as much as her fashion mags, this is a nice little crossover.

  4. So disappointed these aren’t available for sale, my blog is a music/fashion one and my readers would love this stuff. 🙁

  5. These are so fun, another brilliant example that fashion doesn’t take its self as seriously as some people think.

  6. AMAZING! I’m sure there’s a catch, they’re bound to produce more of them or have them copied at some stage in the future…?

  7. nice! and it is sooo mean we can’t buy them!!! 🙂
…and I think it didn’t happen by accident that they look like metallica shirts, katherine 😉

  8. ohhhh, i was the elbaz and the rodarte!!!!! how very clever!!

  9. That’s to bad. =( Hey art team you will make a handful of dough if you sell these! I would love to be able to purchase one. Then I can walk around and everyone can know how much I support my fav. designers? Or wait maybe I can just purchase their line? Ahhh I get it.

  10. Way cool…but why am I drawn to the Christopher Kane one…? hah…I reckon it’s the Scotch connection.

  11. Wow they are super cool. Why would they only make 8 of each? If it’s for charidee, they could’ve made more! I understand limited edition but when it comes to Haiti, they could’ve tried to make more money! Confusing.
And btw, what is it with commenters spamming their url 3 times?! Once is enough, if not too much!

  12. They should sell these to the public, imagine how much money they would make for medicine sans frontiers/doctors without borders!!

  13. Are you looking for a t-shirt? Check out some cool and attractive designs at http://www.lovethoseshirts.com and get one of your choice…here you can also customize a design that suits you the best and matches your personality…Just don’t wait, start clicking and order one for yourself..

  14. If they only produced 8 of each then I hope they jacked the price up or auctioned them off to raise as much money as possible.

  15. these are VERY Kingdom of Style, i think your dedication will be much appreciated. not my cup of tea, but loving the new take on the band shirt.these are too funny. For a girl who loves her band t-shirts as much as her fashion mags, this is a nice little crossover.
