Alrighty…so when the lovely peeps at Mykromag posted what they thought were the final prototypes of the Louise Goldin for Topshop studded shoes (with the help of stylist Panos Yiapanis…), there was a flurry of blog-lovin' activity.  OMFG!  LOVE!  AMAZING!  etc etc

The finalised designs in cream, black and rose with no studs running down the heel have now been revealed and will be going into stores and onlne at ¬£150 a pop on 5th February.  Weirdly enough, I'm kind of liking that the studs have been reduced.  It's not so much that perennial huffy puffy "I'm-so-sick-studs" that inevitably a few people will proclaim.  I just like that the studs aren't so erm…STUDS-in-YA-FACE… that they're a ladylike shoe with only a 'smattering' of studs.  Or maybe this is Topshop easing out of studs and half-heartedly bidding studs a little fond farewell wave "Until we meet again you sharp metal node!"  Ooops…. Ashish x Topshop… maybe not…

  1. Damn, I love the studs down the heel. haha, it does remind me of dinosaurs too.

  2. Oh, I’m actually missing the studs on the back of the shoe. They’re so dragon-like! I would’ve loooooved them on those cream shoes.

  3. hmm yeah i prefer the studs on the front (like the new black ones). studs on the back was cool but they’d play havok with my trousers!

  4. My legs would look like I’d been in a war zone after a day of wearing those. I’m a little too clutzy for them, haha.

  5. I am reluctant to use the word “fierce” to describe clothing, but I think that is the only word that fits here!

  6. Totally gorge. I have to agree, the show piece shoes could end in a lawsuit. EEk! I’d like to walk around my house in them though!

  7. Yes,I too prefer the bottom ones, especially the cream 🙂 In Primark they have some black “leather” ones with different studs all over the back and heel and they’re actually really nice. Primark is a good shoes shop. haha random

  8. I like the black and white shoe a lot but the rose looks like tacky bedazzled diy. Of course the prototypes are better….

ps. thanks again for adding me on your blog roll. I added you on mine.

  9. I liked the first version, which is strange because I’m a bit fed up with studs. Topshop being Topshop probably decided for maximum ‘sellability’ and version no. 1 might have been a bit too ‘designer’. What I really like about the shoes is the very classical shape combined with something so flashy. I think it’s Adieu ¬£150 for me…

  10. I think these are safer in the damage control area…. That is if you tripped and fell you wouldn’t end up a bleeding mess.

  11. much prefer the “studded down” ones. its not that i dont like the mohawk of studs on the heels, its just that i find the “heel stud mohawk” ones are too shiny. in my opinion the shininess makes them look a bit tacky, even slutty. the bottom ones look much more stylish and mature.

  12. I’m studless apart from an ancient Italian belt as I care not for them, much and actually I couldn’t walk in those heels. Gosh what a sour puss I am today!

  13. I agree, I prefer the toned-down shoes. I do like the first pair, but they are more suited to Rihanna-wannabees so I can see why Topshop did what they did.
    xDuck

  14. Those shoes are insane! I love them, but I could never work them in with my weird style, I don’t think.
