Check the Back

>> Both the boy and I have been enamoured with French knitwear designer Xavier Brisoux for different reasons. He, for the propsect that Brisoux offers up as an interesting knitwear designer for men. Me, for the clever simplicity that Brisoux seems to have perfected with his compact collections that started off concentrating on menswear but then eventually became unisex (notice how that's the way it normally goes… I blame our greediness…).  Brisoux honed his skills at Anne Valerie Hash but struck out on his own to create pieces that he personally describes as "99 per cent wool, 1 per cent unfathomable".  He's offering up a rich collection for A/W 10-11, what with it being season that's more amenable to knitwear but for S/S 10, it's his experimenations with a sheer texture that has me wanting a back…

…that looks like this…

The knit is apparently achieved with a totally transparent polyamide yarn mixed with a cotton yarn that creates this amazing mesh-like knit.  Brisoux was a clever chappie for placing the knit to create this sheer back…

…I even like it as an all-round crew-neck jumper though erm… don't think the public is quite ready for full on nip-nip action yet…

  1. Hmmmm Walkthesand, I’m normally all for the option of DIY but me thinks in this case, achieving a fine combi-yarn knit to make this sheer fabric is a tad ambitious…

  2. These pieces are so delicate they look as though they would float away if not for being worn. The risk of being arrested for indecent exposure slightly puts me off the last one but would look fantastic when layered; I would be tempted to put it with more sheer or perhaps just wear some sort of elaborate neck-piece to conceal me appendages.

  3. Woa! I could never wear anything that can’t be worn without a bra. Not because I’m shy. Because I existed before dinosaurs, and my fossils are not for viewing.

  4. maybe we’re not ready for full-on nip action, but you could wear it over/under a corset/bra top

  5. Xavier is lovely, and a true perfectionist. Although undoubtedly beautiful, his work is also about exceptional quality and finish, which is sometimes overlooked in fashionville. It’s great to see him posted here.

  6. I’m personally definitely NOT ready for the nip nip action but. the backless sweater is beautiful
