>>I don't pillage the Style Bubble archives often unless I'm in one of those moods when re-reading my old posts and laughing at my own very old jokes is going to be a comfort to me (I promise that doesn't happen very often).  However, after I made the very very tough decision of what to procure from the Louise Gray S/S10 collection (how do you narrow it down when you basically want every single piece…), I took a closer look at the styling and got reminded me of this ye olde post of "Toning Down the Tights" where I layered some black and white sheers over opaque colours to get a different effect.  I think from that point of mere tights layering, I've developed an ongoing love affair with layering sheer items in different colours over solids in the same way you would do with acetate sheets which is one of the reasons why Gray's collection resonated with me so much.  I spy navy over red, nude over blue and petrol over orange… add them to the tights possibilities and it's sheer madness.

  1. LOVE. I used to wear opaque tights underneath hopelessly shredded tights back in my rebellious, punk rock days. I still think that look is hot, but it’s inappropriate for a mother of two toddlers I think. 😉 I love the sheer, layered top look though. I could & should do that, even with the little rascals in tow! It’d be cute with a pair of vintage high-waisted, pleated jeans. Lord knows I have a large inventory of them right now to chose from. Still need to get those listed…. alas, I’m distracted by your fabulous blog!

  2. I too love layering of sheers. I find it particularly exciting when a sheer fabric is layered over a textured fabric such as lace or sequins. Not only does it add subtlety, but it also adds depth and dimension.

  3. “. . . add them to the tights possibilities and it’s sheer madness” possibly my favourite pun ever on stylebubble 🙂

  4. I love the colors and that neat iridescent quality.
I’m also quite taken by the shoes in the last pic… are the straps woven out of laces?
(first time I’ve commented here, although I read your blog daily. I just had to, cause this really caught my eye!)

  5. I’d get the last dress (for myself 😉 ), the shoes are all great as well
