Poppers Delight

>> The return of the "body" or "bodysuit" is not exactly news and as predicted, along with my love for the S/S 10 throng of "tap shorts", I too have fallen hard for the return of the bod.  I know the comments coming up here will make reference to a certain popstar who goes by an aristocratic title, but I might remind everyone that the bodysuit is nothing new and wearing leotards/onesies/catsuits/bodies without bottoms/tights isn't some new revolution either.  (Actually it's vaguely annoying that anything considered 'avant-garde' or 'edgy' is automatically attached to this popstar's name but that's another convo to be had…)  That said, I will say that my preferred modus operandi with these silhouette-smoothing garments are to wear them with sheer skirts/dresses or looser trousers.

And the all important facilitator to the modus operandi are the POPPERS!  I'm not such a brown-noser (no pun intended…) of fashion trends that I'm forgetting about the all-important act of toilet going.  Hey, after my bowel/bladder hospital scares, I'm ALL about going to the loo.  The popper in the body is the deal maker.  So I'm pleased to know that Anthony Vaccarello's range of 'poseur' S/S 10 swimsuits are now officially going to be 'bodysuits' with poppers put in place, for ease of wear, which means a private order is most definitely imminent.  The intricate cut-outs and geometric lines in them make them all basically perfect for wearing with a white sheer tee underneath.   Now to find the sheer bit of something something to go over it…

  1. These are beautiful. I never got into bodysuits because of the lack of snaps in the appropriate place, but if these come with, I could definitely see myself giving them a try. =D

  2. ^Diane, I completely agree and I guess i am selfishly posting for myself because I am indeed flat as a pancake…that’s no great thing to be proud of though!

  3. totally with you there susie, many romper memories of stripping right down in club toilets, festival loos, etc etc, bad times! the worst is the strapless playsuit. how you coming along with your bloomer/big pants for spring thoughts? seems if treggings caught on then some high waisted pants and tights shouldn’t be too erm offensive?

  4. They are all lovely! Fair point about the poppers, I have a whole collection of lovely popperless bodies I avoid wearing just because of the loo problem…

  5. These actually make me very sad cos I’m not flat as a pancake. Not that I ever have been a huge fan of big chest.
But yeah, great drapings, interesting cutouts, loving them all! Keeping Anthony on my checklist, definitely, after these and those fab mirrored jackets.

  6. wows.
I’m still desperately seeking some perfect sheer item(s) for layering, my search is falling flat on its face x

  7. I remember wearing bodysuits with poppers in the early-mid 90’s! I used to wear them with really baggy jeans hahaha. These are definitely much more fashionable, I actually never thought I would consider wearing a bodysuit again, but I suppose everything cycles.

  8. Love the 90′ … remember me when girls was in search for the ” fourche” … Amazing bodysuit btw ! When 90′ meet 80′ meet 2000 meet 2028 !

  9. Poppers on a swimsuit…what an exciting concept for these. I would love to rock the first design, over a nice mesh top or plain bodysuit.

  10. Absolutely amazing! Poppers are the best. I’ve read things like “No way am I peeing through a hole” but poppers aren’t a hole! They open up the entire garment. Sigh.

  11. Hmmm, definitely food for thought! I did a sheer black body with fringe and lace detailing for a fashion show I just did, but WITHOUT snaps in that very important place…will definitely need to add them for the production!

  12. These designs are stunning … they really do merit being worn on their own, or otherwise paired with the most basic skirt/trousers so as not to take away from the luscious details. Thank you for sharing!
    xo

  13. The model’s expression and torso are reminiscent of the black-&-white photos released after World War II of Nazi torture victims and concentration camp survivors. Whatever happen to fashion being fun? Merde!

  14. loved…loved and loved
completly green fashion….looks like they are made or grass or somethinf like that
