Moshing for Moschino

After my little prewarning to Steve that vintage clothes are a scarcity in Hong Kong, what was the first thing I bought in Hong Kong?  In probably what is the most organised charity shop I've come across ever, that seemed to contain a lot of designer cast-aways and factory seconds, in Miramar Plaza in Tsim Tsai Tsui I found this Moschino Cheap and Chic blazer that has only fired up my rediscovery of my love for Moschino

It kind of all started at the S/S 10 press day where many archive pieces had been re-invigorated and reproduced to mix in seamlessly with the mainline collection.  The slightly cheesy gold hardware, the in yer face colour palette and the tongue in cheek references are the things that initially made me keep on consistently adding the word 'Moschino' to my eBay search list (resulting in a few Cheap and Chic pieces that I still get wear out of…).

How could these ickle jacket pockets not make me swoon?

If you are a firm believer in feet 'popping' (a very very lame Princess Diaries reference…), perhaps you could also tell the time whilst doing so…

Moscss10
From the cheaper than Cheap and Chic, 'Love Moschino' line, you get skulls, hearts and flowers mixing together as if it were meant to be…

This is how I actually say "Thank you!" when I'm drunk…

A less extreme take on the Marjan Pejoski famous swan dress, no?

Flicking through the mahussive Moschino ten year retrospective book 'X Anni Di Kaos!' (X Years of Kaos!), which I wish I could scan properly, there was much to chuckle at, given Franco Moschino's unique take on literal referencing and image making…

… given the amount of Moschino intake I've had, it's kind of weirdly sinister that I found this second-hand jacket in Hong Kong of all places.  However I'm all for well-rounded and symmetrical stories for posting purposes so I'm not complaining.  I plan on wearing this jacket only with Steve's Uniqlo gingham shirt for the maximum matchy matchy effect.

  1. Aww too cool. It all looks so old-fashioned with an ironic twist. Like it a lot. I guess my fav is the Jacket that looks a bit like a uniform jacket but has kn√≠ves, forks and spoons applicated instead of the usual military-jackt-stuff. I’m sick of those boring Jackets, so that’s a pretty cool one.
    Nice Post 🙂

  2. Moschino is truly wonderful. The cherrytop with appleskirt and flower belt. Swoon. However I find the “Cheap and Chic” branding giving negative connotations, but the garments showsthat¬¥s not true.

  3. OMG! This shop sounds great, where is it?
I’m going to Hong Kong for Christmas so….please tell!

  4. great jacket susie! would you consider doing a quick run down of all the good shops you visited in hk when you get back? i’m going back to hong kong after 3 years aways and out of the loop, and it’ll be great to have a mini guide that’s current. 🙂

  5. Gorgeous jacket!!! Love the other one with the pearlish hardware, and especially the one with the cute pockets! Those drapey dresses are gorgeous!
    xx

  6. Moschino is super duper! I love your blazer and those “ickle jacket pockets” are adorable! And that flower/skull skirt? I want it!

  7. That jacket is EPIC! (and I never even use that word, ever.)
also a big fan of the jacket pockets..cuteness factor off the charts!
I live in Italy and we used to have Moschino Love stocked in many department stores/big stores, but most of them don’t carry it anymore, which makes me sad cos at least it provided me some eyecandy while (window)shopping..I’m glad to see they’re still doing great with the archive revamp..

  8. haha all those pieces look so fun. haha
and the fabric of your jacket that you are wearing reminds me of fabric that would cover a couch. and i mean that in such a good way haha.

  9. Wow,what a great find! I’ve always thought that about the lack of vintage in Hk but when you do come across one, it’s the highest quality and insanely organized! Got to make a stop at Tsim Tsai Tsui next time I’m in HK, fingers crosses next year!

  10. Oh Moschino… so whimsical and cheery yet still couture at the same time. How do they do it? Little blazer pockets and skulls blended in with florals, of course! Must go to Hong Kong soon! I will be vacationing in Taiwan for the winter so hopefully, they have some neat stuff there as well.

  11. I was able to find a huge vintage shop in Hong Kong! Well, it was mainly deadstock vintage clothes from Japan. There is a huge ware-house like shop tucked into a lot of fast fashion shops in Mong Kok, Fa Yun Street (Flower Garden Street).

  12. Moschino is just so whimsical, I love it! I hope you get a lot of wear out of that blazer, it is excellent find.

  13. Oh you are in HK! How lucky! I love the chains integrated into one of the designs….Reminds me of CDG/Watanabe.
Thanks for sharing all these pics, I love to see clothing in asian countries, in Korea there are so many little shops underground near the subways, like subway malls…I wonder why we don’t have that here in America.

  14. Oh!! I have the same one! I have the complete outfit.. the jacket with the skirt and the top, I found it at a vintage fair 2 weeks ago but still have’nt worn it, I used it for a shoot I made with my friends
take a look if you have the time..

  15. should keep us alert on ur whereabts in HK. hope to bump into you on the streets. Oh btw, u should definitely go to Island Beverly Centre (opposite Sogo in Causeway Bay) & go past Initial, which is near Park Lane Hotel. GOt some really cool stuff… =)

  16. WOOOOOW! You’ve just made me love Moschino even more! I especially love the shoes, mmmmm!

  17. The address I gave already…which is Miramar Plaza in Tsim Tsai Tsui on Nathan Road.
Good to see a lot of Moschino lovin’!

  18. Hiii sorry but WHAT store is this?? In Miramar where?? Hmmm a little confused as to how come I’ve never seen anything like this store before!??! Sorry for all the fuss but do you happen to know what floor it is on?? Anyways please let me know so that I can run over there asap 😀 Thanks so much!

  19. Denise: I came across it when I was coming down from Muji and it was on the 2nd floor I think (?)… tucked away a bit… it’s some kind of temporary store put up to raise funds for a local charity…

  20. My taste is starting to veer towards slightly tackier/cheekier wear, so that jacket with the mini jackets on it and the goose dress are amazing finds. Do you know if these will be available in US stores? I must find a way to touch those pieces.

  21. I love Moschino possible one of the best designers ever (second best to Chanel of course). The stuff has alot of personality to it which I like.

  22. the jacket pockets are too fantastic! maybe achievable with barbie clothes? also like your black nailpolish atm

  23. if ur ever selling the moschino cheryy dress let me no im interested in buying thanks!

  24. OMG!
Please tell me where did you get the Moschino spring 2010 cherry dress?
I’ve been trying to get a hold on it forever!
    Please do reply!
    I would really appreciate it!
    THANKYOU 🙂
