Little Fruits

I'll admit it.  I threw a minor grumpy strop after browsing in Opening Ceremony in New York.  I think the strop started sometime after trying the Carol Flare coat from the Whre the Wild Things Collab (yes, I love it, and yes, it's completely impractical).    I only did it because the friends I was with were the only ones who'd understand my minor strop.  The utterly shallow and superficial "Why-don't-I-have-an-unlimited-budget?" strop.  It's a ridiculous strop because I'm not poor either…just not rich.  So really, it's just wanton and excessive greed.

I was resigned to not buying anything post-strop in New York.  Afterall, I have great food, friends to enjoy it with and my health (at least part of it).  That's a saccharine statement if ever I heard one.  Though of course, when a YSL sample sale beckons, who bloody cares about a friendly and healthy brunch.  Thanks to Refinery 29's sales notice we headed up to the sale to check it out and whilst it wasn't bargainous bargainous (YSL's S/S08 plastic star studded bubble coat reduced from $40,000 to $8,000… *fists in air* BAR-GAIN) it was perfect for rifling through.  I came out with just the pair of trews, adding to the continuing series of 'Susie's Strange Trews' though these are fairly classicly shaped with a slight twist in its sheer chiffon fabrication.  They need summer light really to diffuse through…

My other wee fruit was this Kelly Kapowski-style floral lace body from Fox and Fawn vintage (still my fave vintage haunt in NYC…)… again needs some summer light really for sheer joyful fun.  Like the sad consumer sucker that I am, of course mini-strop is a distant memory and I can only hang my head in shame, wince my eyes and rack my head in my hands thinking "Urgh… why am I such a SHOPPER?"

  1. love the sheerness of the pants! They are classic, and yet, them being transparent makes them a bit sensual.

  2. Totally understand, I have the ‘its not fairrrrr’ strops all the time, why can’t I have Madonna’s shopping budget? Is it my fault I like expensive things?
Lovely pants tho, I think you could get away with layering them over lace tights or something for extra warmth!

  3. Those are a bit of see-thru-ish! What do you wear underneath as not to expose the derriere in a compromising way! ;-P

  4. I was quite drawn to the hairy dress. As for the str/sh opping. Yes. I can understand… *sigh* *gaze*. Missing your lone comments on rosiepop. Think I may have buggered up bloglines sometime ago when I stopped posting. Then deleted stuff. Then put it back again…seriously – no idea why.

  5. ahh my favorite moto jacket of yours makes an appearance! I love that grey patent…They have saved by the bell over in the uK? Just wondering cause you made the kelly kapowski reference hahah

  6. Speaking of strop, I think I’ll go cry in a corner now over my lack of awesome floaty pants, super duper floral body, and the most stellar jacket ever to grace a computer screen.

  7. the way you work this jacket is amazing. most people wouldn’t give it a second glance, but you make it seem so normal, it’s hard to imagine a way it would look back. : )

  8. love the jacket, lve the pants and love the t-shirts!
the entire outfit was very fun and i totaly wanted

  9. They say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away,
but many of us still don’t eat them. That doesn’t mean
we shouldn’t be eating them, however. Pound for pound,
fruits are among the healthiest foods a person can consume,
offering numerous benefits (from antioxidants to vitamin C
to potassium to fiber) in huge quantities that other foods don’t come close to.
But which fruits offer which specific health benefits?
    regards

  10. I’ve never seen pants like this – I love that you can see all the pocket and seaming. It’s almost like you’re wearing pants inside-out.
