Viva Viva H

I have a tidy stack of Korean mags (after my last Vogue Girl Korea post, someone was kind enough to send me a few more issues) that I will probably keep longer than the rest just because it's actually pretty impossible to get them shipped over to the UK (if mag shipping genius RD Franks can't do it, it's pretty much a hopeless cause…).  Obviously they're bursting with Korean labels that I have a hankering to check out but sadly trying to find concrete information in a flood of Hangeul characters to research online is a bit of a difficulty.

So I'm grateful that some are kind enough to email me and write in English to a non-Korean understanding oaf like me.  One was Viva H, whose collection I recalled from an oldish Brook and Lyn post and I had actually folded the corner of a Vogue Girl Korea page where their dress was featured.  Happy days…

Han Young Seo and Ha Jeong Lee's debut S/S 09 collection is all those things that are inoffensive to most… florals, mannish blazers, insouciance etc etc and then a little bit more.  Through Brook and Lyn's upclose experience with the collection, I found that they also used interesting fabric techniques… best demonstrated in the long leather-like dress that isn't leather at all but a special blend that has been embossed.  I love that they went for the ankle length too given that I've been driven to insanity with the majority of shops overrun with teeny tiny short lengths.  They also have a long and sheer design which is basically a more refined version of what I've been wearing the whole summer so I'll have to send a pesky email back to cheekily ask where can one buy some Viva H…?

  1. It’s fascinating how there is a whole different world of brands and designers we don’t know just because of language/geographic limitations… Thank you for this post Susie 🙂

  2. great pics, clothes! i adore all these looks. overseas fashion mags seem more interesting than stateside ones. it’s the appeal of the “exotic” or unfamiliar, i suppose!

  3. im a huge fan of vogue girl korea. even though it costs a bomb. i get my dad to get them from hongkong where its cheaper.
i believe viva.H is only available in stores at daily projects a shop in seoul. i could be wrong cause my korean is really limited. i guess you could ask them if they dont mind selling the items to you over email.

  4. Oh,Hanyoung! She is my friend, she has a great sense of fashion(of couerse), amazing personality as well! Sooooo glad to see her pieces over here. I miss her :’-(

  5. Love the blazer in the fourth pic! The leather dress is too amazing, the detailing makes it look like the designer battled a huge reptile and turned it into clothing!
