What with the whole redesign blah blah blah, I didn't have time to take some proper pictures with my Par Avion from Hong Kong package from Daydream Nation (have FINALLY booked my ticket and I'm off for a loooong fortnight in HK in November…). But today, I am wearing the most literal ensemble from the package… yup, I'm an Air-Mail envelope. I used to steal these from my mum's stationery box and write letters to imaginary friends popping them into the make-believe post box that I think was in fact a bush, sticking stickers all over them in stead of stamps and making sure I used biro on thin writing paper (I liked the embossed effect you get when you write hard with a biro on thin paper…). Looking at the address of this particular envelope, I suddenly got the urge to read that very long letter that Jing and Kay Wong from Daydream Nation had constructed as their A/W 09 lookbook.
Just to recap, the collection entitled 'Letter to Paul' is dedicated to Jing and Kay's father Paul… hence the airmail, postal theme and little nods like 70s' mens' glasses hanging on necklaces as jewellery. I love that Jing and Kay have designed something that's so personal to them but yet so accessible to everyone in terms of styles and wearability and I'd like to thank them for making me chuckle, thinking about the embarrassing shit I used to do when I was a child. I'm off to crumple the dress a bit (achieved when sitting on the 43 bus…) exactly like I did with the paper versions (I thought that if you crumpled them up a bit, it might quicken the 'aging' process… I was dead serious in thinking that in the future, people would relish finding my fake air mail letters in the dirt… and this sounds ridiculous even as I'm typing…).
cool outfit. your shoes are gorgeous!
Love the new blog layout. And this outfit (envelope dress, boater hat and all) is amusingly amazing. Keep up the great work!

Susie, I loved reading your little girl story. That’s such a cute thing to do, and an even better place to draw inspiration from.
Are the heart print tights from Tabio?
love the re-design! [how very bjork of you] looks really good. and the envelope dress is very sweet.
I am in love with your dress!

Love that dress! I’d wear it in a millisecond.
Wow, I love the dress.Check out http://www.cowgirlheaven.etsy.com for runway trends
Susie, that is the epitome of brilliance!
It reminds me of the time I dressed as a letter for a fancy dress party and fashioned myself an envelope costume out of a Woolworths bed sheet, wrote my address on the front and got my friend who was slightly less artistically challenged than myself to fashion me a stamp. It has hung on my wardrobe door ever since because much as I would love to wear it again, it looks a little too much like a Woolworths bed sheet very badly sewn together with a slightly undesirable Holloway postcode scrawled on it – yours is obviously infinitely more glamorous and fabulous!

Amazing! It’s such a creative concept that they used, I love the dress!

I think this is officially my favorite outfit ever here!
This is so cute. I like how you accessorized it…
Absolutely in love with this dress. I love anything to do with old fashioned letters and post and airmail. I totally get your childhood game – if I had known you as a child I would have been right there with you posting my makebelieve letters into the bush! 😉 Even now I have to resist filling drawers full of notepaper and envelopes (and stickers to fancy things up). This whole Daydream collection sounds amazing. I must find out if theres anywhere that sells their collection online (do you know?) because I’m finding it totally irresistible. In anycase I’ll do a little research into it because if I can’t get my hands on any of it, I’ll at least have to dedicate a blogpost to it! 🙂
Btw I love the new layout!
The dress reminds me of Chalayan’s airmail dress (without all the creases!) Your tights are so sweet! I want them!
Jealous of your 2 week trip to HK on Nov! It’s still a while away but I’m already anticipating your blog posts from HK!
