Lulululuella…

I don't feel so guilty in overindulging in what can only be described as Lula-isms(rumours abound that the mag is gone for good?) seeing as I'm probably quite unlikely to pack so much Luella into one singular outfit and it really is for the purpose of photographing my picks from the mega sample sale that was so overflowing with stock, it got extended until Friday.  Thank you to the peeps who reported back with their tales of glee… tis' good when the sample sale fun can be had by many… though hopefully nobody wilted in the queue (saw a woman pass out the other day on the bus…was trying to telepathically send out thoughts of the ice bath over to her to cool her down…).

Like I said in my mini-post, the bag sale was pretty bargainous with bags going for mostly in the ¬£75 region and only the big giant ostrich/croc fests going for ¬£250 max.  I think I chose the oddest bag of the lot just because I'm personally not really into the Giselles or the err…other famous Luella bags that were on offer (you can tell I'm completely out of my comfort zone when I start talking about those errr….bag things…).  Mainly, it was the suede saddle and horse head tag that swayed me… and it's also lined with sheepskin which will make a cosy home for my shivering hand in colder months.

It sits rather well with two pints…

Clothing wise, I didn't go too crazy with spending unlike other people, who were laden with about twenty items in their arms, excited by the ¬£15 to ¬£100 price range.  I went for a double breasted tail coat with net sleeves that also came in gunmetal grey.  Not exactly sure what season they are but it could well be a piece that never made it into the shows.  Have finally hit the tailcoat mark as the last time I was tempted, at the Veronique Branquinho stock sale in Antwerp, it was slightly too big.

Oh, and I had to wear the things today in a very LITERAL and matchy matchy way with an old Zara dress and the Luella shoes I got in the sale… promise there won't be so much compacted Luella into one outfit ever again.

  1. You look fabulous! I love the shoes, they are so gorgeous! And the bag was really nice! Wouldn’t mind owning a saddle bag myself.
I enjoy reading all your posts. I wish I could experience those sales myself someday:)

  2. I’m stll very jealous…I hope they have another one soon. If only I’d known about friday…

  3. KB: Apologies for not adding an edit post though I’m not sure you would have checked it in time… I heard they extended it through a commentor….
PinkBow: Someone told me that Lula has folded but I could be wrong….

  4. aaarrgghh I can’t even afford Luella sale prices, lowly creature that I am 🙁
That bag makes me want to burst in to tears, were it not for it’s leathery-ness which means I wouldn’t buy it anyhoo.. Rather hypocritical of me though, I don’t wear leather but I have a real horse and his saddle is leather..hmm..
That outfit is pure perfection, matchy matchy or not.

  5. Susie I lovelovelove what you walked away with! Of course the coat is magnificent (purple!!) but the bag! Oh the bag is amazingggg. I really adore the saddle setup, that was definitely a majorrr score. Purple & yellow together is one of my favorites (next to purple black and orange). Incredible.

  6. Wait, Lula gone for good?! How can this be true…? I mean, it seems to be the most popular magazine around here!
Hopefully those are only rumors…will see when September approaches…keep us posted!

  7. This is probably my favourite outfit of yours but I feel I cannot properly fangirl because WHAT LULA GOING FOR GOOD WHAT?! I will die if this happens.

  8. Guys, calm down! My source of info is a good one, but these things can change…. a financial backer here and there and it might resurge!

  9. Amazing buys, it’s great when you can find designer pieces in such prices.
But the dress, old?? I remember the post where you contemplated whether to get it or not (I believe that post included a fitting room pic) and talking about the fact that it was a Gucci-inspired piece. I can’t go through all the archives (girl, you have a lot of them) but I think I remember correctly. Anyway, old?? It makes me feel old… Ok, that’s not true, but it makes you wonder how quick time passes.

  10. ah you are so lucky to live in london and get the chance to go there! the purple and the yellow looks amazing together!

  11. I have to echo the others– I LOVE this combination! The structure and ruffles, the vibrancy of the colors and matchy match is not a bad idea…

  12. fab!! the jacket almost reminds of the recent autumn collection with the sheerness and buttons, great bag too, charms are way better than logos, more houses should adopt them!

  13. The eye popping colour combi is just perfect! The colours are so bright and they could instantly bring a smile on a spectator like me! haha

  14. i LOVE luella, one of my faves
that yellow is dress is PERFECT
    sooo greast for the summer

  15. Oh God, you look amazing Susie, I wish I could wear colours like that! And I am so jealous of you Londoners around samle sale time (eh, other times too), bags for £75, my God!
I hope you’re well by the way! And I hope the Lula rumour is false…

  16. Puts a brand new spin on the saddle bag, I’m not sure how well it would stand up on the back of my bike though!

  18. OMG NONONO don’t say Lula is going to be gone for good! 🙁 I was JUST about to subscribe to it! my friend is going to London next week and I told him to pick up a few magazine issues for me…hopefully he’ll find Lula!
And I love the shoes! I love everything Luella, actually.

  19. Um you didnt choose the oddest bag of the lot , presumptuous bubble, there was a clear plastic bag that was much better and weirder this is classic luella and super naff

  20. ^Apologies…. I only said ‘I think…’ can’t actually verify er…bag oddity level officially…was that the plastic bag that looked like like it was made to be a mock stripey laundry bag? The huge one that was ¬£30….? I actually wanted that one but wasn’t sure about the size….
Alright then, my bag is naff, what did you choose, person with a fake URL?

  21. Hi – you’re all very lovely for worrying, but Lula is absolutely fine, and not going anywhere. We are working hard on the new issue, out in September, and a new website will be up and running then too…
    see you soon,
    Leith, Charlotte and Suzy
